xgulfie··on Iowa-led states ask OpenAI to keep their bots on a leash
It is, sometimes. Trespassing for example. A lot of laws say "willingly" or "with the intent to"
xgulfie··on Waymo CEO explains why Tesla’s camera-only self-driving falls short
My 2013 Prius does this too, if I let go of the wheel it goes basically straight until it needs me to take over and adjust its trajsctory
xgulfie··on Atomic Vibe Coding
It's not really vibe coding then is it?
xgulfie··on The most official water costs $120k a gallon
Sure technically yes, but also celsius is now technically defined as just Kelvin plus 273.15. Degrees have technically been redefined as exactly 1.380649×10^−23 joules
xgulfie··on The most official water costs $120k a gallon
Kelvin does still rely on each degree being 1% of the way between freezing and boiling so it kinda does rely on a variant reference point

xgulfie··on Gemini Robotics 2 brings whole body intelligence to robots
roombas having cameras, then also uploading them, was a misstep for sure

xgulfie··on Gemini Robotics 2 brings whole body intelligence to robots
> Humanoids are just creepy and you can't really trust them.

Ultimately I shouldn't have to trust my robots. If my roomba or my dishwasher go haywire they won't pinch my finger off. They physically can't listen to me or spy on me. These are good robots.

The emojis really stick out to me. Do people realize we didn't have emojis on the web in 1999? And the CSS animations

xgulfie··on So, you want to make a game engine (2023)
I don't think everybody thinks they can make game engine, nor do I think nobody has ever shipped a single game in their life
xgulfie··on AI companies are shredding rare books
They are digitized for private training and not for public use. Not a single human is reading these.
xgulfie··on Em dashes are fucking amazing
The economy may collapse and the job market rendered irreparable but the real victims of the AI boom are the em-dash and the sparkle emoji
xgulfie··on A24 Is Copyright Striking Backrooms Artwork Older Than the Movie
Redbubble's automated claim system is generally very corporate-sided. This has happened many times with other ideas in the commons like the words Thor and Loki. Bad claims only get resolved when people with a following complain loud enough online. Your follower count is your capital.
xgulfie··on OverpAId – Fire your CEO. Hire the future
Please make this real, my shareholders are starving
xgulfie··on $100 AI Music Video: Claude Fable 5 vs. GPT-5.6 Sol
This is borderline satirical. Being an artist doesn't require dedicating your entire life to it, that is not real, reasonable, or widely held
xgulfie··on FAA lets Boeing sign off on 737 MAX, 787 airworthiness certificates again
People are Boeing to die
xgulfie··on Designing emoji for the way we communicate today

Honestly. Some LLM enthusiasts throwing an agent at making a fork doesn't mean anyone is invested in this
xgulfie··on Codex Micro
Ah, the lesswrong people are going to buying these in droves to prove their faith to the basilisk

xgulfie··on Spider venom kills varroa mites without harming honeybees
Grok, pollinate the flowers
xgulfie··on John Deere owners will get the right to repair equipment under FTC settlement
Right to repair doesn't mean they'll get the ability to install custom firmware for example, it just means they'll get the ability to flash it with the signed, official firmware. It doesn't mean they can DPF delete, it means they can install a new one if the old one cracks.
xgulfie··on John Deere owners will get the right to repair equipment under FTC settlement
1 million dollars? Like, less than 1 tractor after financing? How will they recover from this?!
