xescure··on Modeling and Verification of Keeta's Consensus [pdf]
The man himself! Looking forward to it. I have a vague idea from your descriptions in the Keeta Discord, but it probably won’t fully click until I see it in use.

Yep, clients are pretty heavy. There's actually a "publish aid" function where a proxy can contact the representatives for clients. I think these will be heavily used as more and more reps join and as clients get implemented in more constrained environments like mobile data.
xescure··on Modeling and Verification of Keeta's Consensus [pdf]
Keeta is a new high-throughput payments blockchain. Its origins trace back to Nano, the feeless DAG DLT, and Facebook's FastPay, but it has plenty of novel contributions which warrant a formal look.

Here I present a formal Quint specification for its consensus protocol, model-checked under a Byzantine fault model. Safety was found to be preserved within the fault-bounds and under a constant weight model, and the possibility of FastPay style lockouts was reproduced as expected.

The direction for future research depends on the direction Keeta takes; checkpoints and epochs (similar to Sui) are the features to watch there.

I’ve never heard of any of those.
xescure··on FIDO Alliance publishes new spec to let users move passkeys across providers
Google’s security key can already support 250 resident keys. I’m not sure how secure it is compared to Yubikeys, but it can’t be that far behind.

What’s your point? Can you memorize SSH keys?

It was not founded in Amsterdam, but rather in Enschede by a student at the University of Twente.

Thank you EU for regulating roaming! I remember being afraid to turn on data because the law was so new. At the end of the month the bill came and I was relieved to see 0€ extra for 7GB of traffic.

No, travelling by rail is sustainable. It’s a really good option for continental travel under 1000km.
xescure··on Novel drug could protect brains from damage after repeat concussions
No, but if I were a TBI sufferer, I’d take quality of life improvements even with these costs.

If you want to ‘have it all,’ we’ll need to invest heavily in creating more advanced biomedical research models. This requires strong societal and political willpower.

xescure··on Android now lets you transfer eSIMs between your phones
Yubikeys only allow for 25 resident keys. Clearly not ready for passkeys, but they can work as a second factor.

My setup for the next few years will be: Bitwarden to store passkeys, passwords and sensitive data and a Yubikey that I login to Bitwarden with.

xescure··on Why I Like Obsidian
However, this becomes less significant when the applications are interoperable. If you ever stop using Obsidian, you can just grab your files and use another Markdown editor on top.
xescure··on Noyb files GDPR complaint against Meta over "Pay or Okay"
Can you explain to a university student in Western Europe how to exist without WhatsApp and Instagram?

For example, parties are organized in Whatsapp group chats and the local library’s events are posted to Instagram.

xescure··on Noyb files GDPR complaint against Meta over "Pay or Okay"
I’d agree if Facebook wasn’t such a monopoly. Most digital social interactions are walled behind Meta products.

You want to organize a protest? Create a Facebook event. You want to keep up with news in your town or neighborhood? Join the local Facebook group. You want to chat with someone? Add them on Facebook Messenger.

xescure··on Carbon Passports Are the Next Dystopian Surveillance Threat
This reads like a conspiracy theory when coupled with their site's design and messaging. It's filled with many theoretical scenarios. The report it quoted was proposed by a travel agency. That would be alright, but only the speculative, sensationalistic parts were referenced.
xescure··on The Pentagon and CIA have shaped thousands of movies into effective propaganda
Not to mention the long term effects, such as increased risk of diabetes, heart problems and neurodegenerative conditions. Plus a bunch of other symptoms which get labeled as long covid.

These are not enough to make people afraid of catching the virus. The effects are not immediate and humans are bad at long-term risk assessment. See climate change or smoking as examples.
