Except nowadays with Docker / Kubr you can safely assume the db engine will be the only tenant of a given vm /pod whatever so I think it’s better to let OS do memory management than fight it
In my part of the world the same properties are available through Airbnb and booking.com. But booking also lists hotels so guess which one I use to book?
I quite like and agree with the numbers here - you could be getting 10k / year before your first whale, so it does not make much economic sense to only focus on a 100 biggest fans.
As I commented elsewhere an idea of a throwaway email to sign in is not new and Blix didn’t come up with it - rather they just iterated on that idea.
So they shouldn’t complain that someone iterated on theirs.
And an anonymous login is not enough of a moat to build a whole business upon.
I agree with that and therefore think immutable is not a useful abstraction as it does not approximate how things appear to be in what we perceive as real.
Sorry to say but this proves that for someone who actually has to work for a living ie earn money, corporate life is absolutely the correct choice. Even for Mr Lynch these experiments in charity wouldn’t be possible without the nest egg from google (which he acknowledged). To go from net 100k+ to below zero and still be unprofitable after two years is a financial disaster.
libcurl is an important library used in their product, but there's tons of other libraries that they also use so it would not make sense to pay hundreds of dollars per month for every possible open source library being used.
Absolutely this. Hypothetically you could have fun with no alcohol, in practice the people that don’t drink are the most boring and as a result don’t get laid as much. You will die anyway maybe ten years later but if you don’t reproduce you’ve lost the gene game and the future population will be of those that drank. Which maybe explains why we still drink despite health reasons to the contrary.
It is important. Given how much time you spend sleeping and people complain about spending $1000. But they don’t complain about a $30000 car they spend less than half the time in.
I’m pretty sure flat tax was done before and people cheated on that too so it doesn’t remove the need for IRS and enforcement in general. Even if other forms of tax are not fair the immediate problems that causes are nicer problems to have than not enough revenue from flat tax.
And gauge whether it’s more efficient than “FinTech”. IMO there’s still a lot of efficiency to be had with centralised finance but with modern tech and good UX.
You are more than welcome to create a game with better AI and therefore better playability. The rules of Civ games are complex enough imo. It’s just a game after all.
This has bigger and impact on startup ecosystem worldwide than say a new framework etc but no one is discussing this. I wonder if people gave up on the idea that tech can help make informed decisions ?
It looks like people voted off their emotions and based on what they would like to happen (UK being a sovereign empire again) and not based on what is realistic- a bunch of trade deals that are worse off than being in the EU
I think these are noble but naive approaches - we have been developing software for a few decades now and sometimes the software is not compatible without the developer knowing it. You should be able to use whichever version of the software you need.
