wylie··on Deep Thoughts on the Food Tech Revolution by Captain Obvious McClure
Just to clarify, it sounds like you're suggesting that a larger menu will have less-fresh food. That makes intuitive sense but confused me at first.
wylie··on Show HN: myStorify.com - storify your photos
This is nearly identical to a feature in the newest version of iPhoto that lets you break up albums into sections with maps and weather information. Just thought you should be aware! (Disclaimer: I am working on a dead-simple storytelling app called Backspaces.)
wylie··on Understanding Like-gate
This really resonates. I've been integrating Open Graph actions into everything I've built recently because it makes everything more "engaging". I would gladly pay to promote actions my users are taking to their friends, as would many other developers. It seems like the right direction, away from a broadcast model from brands and towards more natural ads.
wylie··on Python for Humans
That link doesn't appear to work for me, so I think the same content is available at http://docs.python-guide.org/
wylie··on A life less posted
When I used film, this is exactly how I felt. Like each moment was precious and worth saving. Now that I use my phone and DSLR more, it's much easier to share, and therefore I do it more. There's a lot to be said for adding a barrier to sharing. Shameless plug: my startup, Backspaces, is doing exactly that.
wylie··on How Studying Body Language Changed the Way I Socialize
Thanks for this link, I liked how it gave specific examples of behavior to correct, all of which I could recognize from personal experience. Particularly this one, when asking questions:

Instead of your underlying point coming across as "your
idea is unfeasible," it comes across as, "You've brought
this good idea to us, and I hope we're smart enough to
  make it work."
wylie··on Map My Day - Track and Visualize your stays with a Heatmap
It would be fairly easy to build on iOS. I had a similar idea a couple months ago, and started to build it last night.
wylie··on How Tumblr for iOS is Built
What I don't understand about Tumblr's iOS app is how they managed to make the dashboard slower, while making everything else native. It literally takes a minute to load the initial content (http://nuut.co/post/31000290048/new-tumblr-app-im-keeping-my...)

At least previous versions got the dashboard right.

wylie··on Meteor 0.4.0: Introducing Spark
From the linked article: "Spark weighs in at 8k gzipped and minified, including all of its dependencies, and it's easily separable from the rest of Meteor."
wylie··on How to get native-like scrolling in UIWebView
The results here are a dramatic improvement over the normal web view. Another option for mobile web developers is to use the -webkit-overflow-scrolling property (with overflow: scroll;)
wylie··on How we open sourced Instagram
I created them using Photoshop, and used GPUImage to parse the files it created. I tested each filter on a sample of iPhone images in different lighting conditions.
wylie··on How we open sourced Instagram
We released an iOS camera with live filters and blur at https://github.com/gobackspaces/DLCImagePickerController

wylie··on I supported App.net with $50/year, here’s why
At first I was skeptical, but look at how successful Facebook's Open Graph is for a range of "social" platforms. Facebook is a pain to develop for, so if app.net is significantly easier it would make me think twice about integrating into Facebook first.
wylie··on I’m tired of the opportunists and their hackathons
Developers go to hackathons because they like to build things. What could be simpler to understand?
wylie··on The Haskell / Snap ecosystem is as productive (or more) than Ruby/Rails.
This article was interesting, having only used frameworks that either do everything or just the minimum (think Rails vs Sinatra, or Django vs Tornado). I was beginning to wonder if there was a middle ground in web frameworks. The idea of a web library, not a framework, really appeals to me. Is there anything like Snap for Python or Ruby?
wylie··on Getting President Obama To Play With Your Product
Prepare for the unexpected. A good startup trait.
wylie··on SkyDrive is a threat to Dropbox
SkyDrive is a threat to Dropbox because they're cheaper? I think Drew Houston said it near the beginning when asked about competitors, "Do you use any of those?" That's the difference.
wylie··on Punch - The new dynamic static site generator [better than Jekyll]
This is a great start. Jekyll is perfect for blogs, but as the readme says this is for full websites. I just don't understand why I would want client-side rendering- isn't the entire point of Jekyll that you would serve static files?
wylie··on Need a PhD Topic? How about cops in traffic
I was expecting a question about how cops will manage to travel significantly faster than the "wave" by pushing it aside or maybe just using the shoulder. I wonder if that's already been studied.

wylie··on MIT awards pirate certificates to undergraduates
This article is about my best friend. He told me the backstory a couple nights ago:

He gets a random email asking if he's available to talk to the Globe about his pirate license. "Sure, why not?" So he gets on the phone with a reporter who asks him about his interest in piracy, and that's when he mentions that he used to dress up for Talk Like a Pirate Day in high school. "Do you have any photos of you dressed as a pirate?" "No..."

So a couple hours later he gets an email asking if the Globe can take photos of him dressed as a pirate. And when he suggests they do it at the MIT Sailing Pavilion, they ask around and find a photographer who somehow knows the guy who runs the pavilion. So they meet up, and in some down time the manager tells Jacob: "You know, he's a pretty awesome photographer. Everything he does ends up on the front page."

And it did.

edit: I forgot the best part of the story (for me). I was eating lunch with his former roommate when he walks right past us. We both text him. So he comes back and talks to us for a while, then mentions offhand "So I need to go take photos with a reporter for the Globe. By the way, can I borrow your socks?" The next time he passed by he was in full pirate costume.

wylie··on IRC + Threads make better communications - Pizzatimes.org
This argument seems like it follows a fallacy. A chat room is simple. Threads are simple. Therefore combining them must be simple too!
wylie··on When do you write your best code (relative to local time)?
Generally after midnight, when everyone else is asleep or quiet.
wylie··on Ask HN: Average summer intern salary?
Thanks for the link, that's the best data I've seen so far.

Should I rephrase the title to be "average intern wage?"

wylie··on How I Program Stuff
"There is no room for ego in success." That seems like a good way to sum up the get-it-done hacker attitude. Ego can come later.
wylie··on Ask HN: Who's looking for employment?
Wylie Conlon, 19, looking for an internship doing front-end web development.

I like to focus on UX and interface design. User-focused startups like Path interest me. I really like Javascript, but I have experience with the whole stack.

wylie··on MIT's holiday greeting
Serious question: Is anything MIT-related worth voting up? Because I don't think the content of this video was particularly worth submitting to HN.
wylie··on Show HN: Virtual Angel Investing market (built on AngelList)
Wait, someone took this game I built for TechCrunch Disrupt seriously? http://venturecrapital.us
wylie··on Think you understand Monty Hall? Try the Tuesday boy problem.
To answer the question posed by the title: no, I didn't think I understood Monty Hall, but thanks to this article I'm pretty sure I do now. This is a good explanation and analysis.
