wyattblue··on Neither GCC nor Clang are compliant with standard C++
Consider Nim too!
wyattblue··on Edge264 – Minimalist, high-performance software decoder for H.264/AVC video
That's a good catch. I did not notice there weren't using any assembly at all. I assumed they wanted to add NEON before advertising Apple Silicon but I guess not.

Also, hi FFmpeg twitter.

wyattblue··on Edge264 – Minimalist, high-performance software decoder for H.264/AVC video
This may eventually be better for people working in the cloud. Shame there's no apple silicon support.

(See also Cisco's openh264, which supports decoding)

wyattblue··on US High school students' scores fall in reading and math

wyattblue··on Trump wins presidency for second time
Reasons I think why Trump won:

- Biden's Inflation

- Fortunate timing

   - Donald Trump is not too too old

   - Israel/Gaza split Democratic Base

 - Harris underestimated the podcasting world
wyattblue··on Python 3.8 has reached EOL
f-strings mainly. The walrus operator is great because it's so easy to do lisp things with it
wyattblue··on Python 3.8 has reached EOL
3.8 feels very modern in a way 3.7 or 3.6 doesn't. I wonder about the wisdom of EOLing Python versions in batches, because each change feels so incremental now.
