wtcross··on Show HN: Having models make roller coasters instead of pelicans (via OpenRCT2)
This has to be one of the coolest benchmarks I have seen! Really great work.
wtcross··on Archive Public Hugging Face Models and Datasets as Immutable, Verifiable Trees
Torrenting is a great solution as well. For now I just wanted direct download. Thanks for sharing those links!

If you have a NAS and want to back up open weight models with a little more structure than just "download and store" I created this toy project. It's actually working quite well for me already.
wtcross··on If you have a MSI EdgeXpert you haven't been getting firmware updates
I'm guessing I'm not the only one in this community with a MSI EdgeXpert. If you have one then all firmware updates have been skipped due to misconfigured Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS) metadata for the EdgeXpert firmware. I reported it to MSI and they responded very quickly. It should be fixed soon.

This PSA is two part:

1. Soon MSI EdgeXpert firmware updates will start

2. Since firmware updates were never possible I'd be cautious about being the first one to install them!

wtcross··on OpenAI drops ban on military tools to partner with The Pentagon
Nicolas M. Chaillan, Former U.S. Air Force and Space Force Chief Software Officer (CSO), has been running Ask Sage for a little over a year now. It's a very clever way to benefit from relationships and timing the market on Generative AI buzz. It's not that hard to see where this could go for Ask Sage.

I agree with your comment. I lived in Raleigh, NC, USA for a long time (bad public transit) and now live in the Washington DC, USA area. The public transit here is much better and completely changed my view on all of this We actually have a metro and a reliable bus system.

PRT is a great technology. I think it's a step in the right direction, away from cars and buses. When I first learned about the volume of people it can transport I was surprised.

There is work being done at North Carolina State University by some great minds to make this technology a reality. (I have no affiliation with this effort, I'm just aware of it)

Cities, business with parking decks or lots, universities, and lots of other things can benefit from this. It doesn't have to be a large scale effort right away.

Check out the simulations the EcoPRT guys have done: http://ecoprt.com/simulations/

I'm excited to see more people thinking about this problem!
