wscourge··on Show HN: Franz – A desktop client for Apache Kafka
Franz will always be a free Ferdium's fork for me.
wscourge··on Show HN: Improve cognitive focus in 1 minute
Anybody who ever meditated knows well that 1 minute of uninterrupted focus is very, very hard.
wscourge··on Ask HN: Make money on browser extension – possible?
Here, I found the most recent one that got my attention: https://www.justbeepit.com/
wscourge··on Show HN: Visit the front page of Hacker News on a random day
I went there once and found something useful. Kudos.
wscourge··on Show HN: Name That Nation
Cool one, especially for kids. It'd go well with naming the capital city, too.
wscourge··on Tell me your most exotic selfhosted solution
That's pretty dope. I'd happily read more detailed case study of this. Don't mean to be pushy, just encouraging

I went there today accidentally. My personal favorite one:

I have an automation that is triggered by a door open/close sensor that I have attached to the flushing arm in my toilet with a custom made 3d printed mount for the sensor, which triggers a script on the server which connects to the chromecast speaker in the bathroom and plays the final fantasy 7 battle victory theme whenever someone flushes the toilet. It is perhaps my favorite part of my home.

wscourge··on Why is the mouse cursor slightly tilted and not straight?
For unrelated reasons it got me thinking of Mark Zuckerberg telling Joe Rogan how they left only the hand (and not the whole arm) in their VR, as it was enough.

Random thought.

wscourge··on Why is the mouse cursor slightly tilted and not straight?
I was looking at both of them for probably a little too long, and I can't see it.
wscourge··on Show HN: Use PhotoRoom for Free
ELI5: why do I need to upload the preview? Is it for some reason impossible for you to downsize the high-res pic? Is there a manual step required of me to take after?

What am I missing here, why not have just a single high-res pic upload?

wscourge··on Show HN: Fixkey is a keyboard-focused AI copilot for writing
Curious: where do you look while typing? I have OCD and would get extremely confused seeing the non-ideal text in the textarea all the time.
wscourge··on Ask HN: What blogs do you read?
The domain.
wscourge··on Ask HN: TIL themes for HN is a thing. What else do you guys use to browse it?
Thanks, that's what I was looking for.
wscourge··on Ruby's exceptional creatures
This is excellent. I proudly wear Honeybadger's swag exactly because of things like this.

I've seen multiple products that let teams collaborate/leave comments on any website. Examples that I found now:

- ruttl.com/website-annotation-tool

- xaviesteve.com/common

but I remember seeing others in the recent months on r/SaaS and r/SideProject.

wscourge··on I bought mysqldump.com and built this, what ya think?
I think nobody sane would trust this.
wscourge··on Show HN: Built a self hosted clean status page and batteries
There's a whole red bar when the website was down for 1 minute on a given day. I don't like it, and I wouldn't want to show that to my users.

I'd suggest you make the bar 1/3600 red, if the downtime was 1min - not exactly this, but you know what I mean.

wscourge··on CSS Puns
I'm not the author, just found it myself and thought it is very cool.
wscourge··on Amazon has taken down the Sad Bastard Cookbook
> Reaching a human at Amazon is a Kafkaesque experience that we haven't yet managed to do.

It indeed is, I had the same experience. Good idea to asking here, you might just find some

wscourge··on Mourning Google
While the article's content brings nothing to my life whatsoever, I did enjoy your writing style.
wscourge··on Show HN: Lightweight Productivity Tool
Your free plan is really generous, are you planning on keeping it once the premium plans are released?
wscourge··on How to build a strategy, not a roadmap
I dislike the very little focus on the actual end-users needs.

It is my belief that this should be the number one priority in product development.

wscourge··on Htmx and Web Components: A Perfect Match
The monospace font in the article is unpleasant to read
wscourge··on Why the Magic?
Psilocybin may have evolved as a defense mechanism. Controlling host behavior as a defense.

I like the shrooms' style.

I still don't understand WHY is it "Incredibly user-hostile". Will do my own research anyway.
wscourge··on Subjective Code Reviews
I have mixed feelings towards too much standardization, especially in open-source.

The case:

I want to simply contribute something useful (I'm the user, so it IS as useful as it gets). I check out the CONTRIBUTING.md guideline: 1.5k words - nope, I'm not reading it.

I'm not saying there should be none standardization, but avoid it turning into gatekeeping - especially in simple cases.

> CSP is one of the worst pieces of Web security infrastructure that modern browsers unwisely agreed to go along with

This got me interested - care to provide a reasoning behind it? I'd love to read more on the subject and better understand it.

Thanks.

wscourge··on Ask HN: What problems would you pay to make go away right now?
I just want my meter running up to a certain limit that I cannot top - that'd be the current sub cost.
