Not me.
Is that because I stuck with Firefox?
After all these years doing cooperative multitasking again
How do you figure?
Yes, but only the people at the "coal face"
The managers in the background toilet at will.
But GitHub, in its heyday, was a centre. Created a sense of "community"
It has taken a while, but since MS bought it it has been shirking that. I expected honest enshittification, but instead it has been technical collapse
What ever.
IMO we need a federation protocol for Git that can rebuild some sort of "community", but on solid foundations.
So we can find one another on our self hosted instances
It is not like that where I live.
The first generation of immigrants have trouble, natural enough. But are very keen that their children do better.
As for racism: Most racism here is systemic, from the state. There is casual ignorant racism, of course, but little hate.
What a mess has been made of your country. You should work to fix it.
It took us a lot of work to get here, and we have a long way to go. But I cannot imagine living in a society such as you describe.
That is such an understatement
Not really
Lobbyists get to talk into the ears of the powerful. It is literally their job. They make very sensible arguments for their point of view. So it seems very sensible, for the legislators, to make laws that aid the powerful and impede the weak.
The legislators are very busy with pressures from all sides. The cognitive load of considering views that you do not hear is enormous. It is not "incompetent or corrupt" to fail.
The system has the corruption baked in. It is one of the mechanisms, of many, that wealth and power concentrate in "democracies "
I have seen this process from the inside, good people making terrible decisions
Have you evidence?
The republican party has become extreme, and they are wrecking your republic
I use nail guns as the analogous tool. Perhaps I know a few carpenters
Pushing back against two things:
* Inappropriate albeit understandable anthropomorphising of the technology
* Misanthropy. The capitalist wet dream of doing away with labour entirely
E.g. in Swift the reference counting is automatic a d implicit
In C++ it is manual and explicit
Art.
I have a quibble, that does not detract: This is about consuming art, and the appreciation of great art. Part of the pleasure of art, is making art.
In a community we appreciate each other's art in an altogether different way. We cheer on our comrades and they cheer on us, and we make (not very thick) art
Bless. Thick art is truly awesome, and makes the world a better place.
Remember the core of Punk: DIY
Inappropriate application of capitalism. A market failure of epic proportions.
Do something about it! You live in a democracy, act like it!!
I have seen none, perhaps in comments downvoted to illegability
Can you name some, please?
I think so. That does not mean you are wrong.
Yes. But.
Industry can miss its revenue targets, Oracle can go bankrupt (looking more and more likely) OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceX might find "true value" at about 10% of current valuations (that feels right to me), all that can happen with the associated economic chaos... and still out of it comes world shaping new technology
Both things can be true
I would like to know what the causes of drought were
I have read the Swiss glaciers are retreating (as they are all over) so less water in the source.
What about back in the day?
Yea, nah
These companies are vulnerable to regulation because they must sell advertising in every market they operate in.
We could make them open their algorithms.
The University of Cambridge is largely to blame for letting this troubled person dig himself in so deep.
His astounding claims were astonishing and easily falsifiable. Journalists had no such trouble.
They raised him up then when he got too hot cast him down.
He was a fantasist, he deserves some blame, but it was Cambridge with the power, and irresponsible hubris
RIP
It is too late now. There are no pare to optimal solutions left
2. There are many alternatives to fossil diesel
3. The alternatives involved decentralised technology, so is actively opposed by entrenched interests who would burn the world for a dollar
