wordofx··on Dependency injection frameworks add confusion
I’m not sure why you’re being down voted despite being correct.

If there are multiple implementations it gives a list to navigate to. If there’s 1 it goes straight to it. Don’t know about IntelliJ but rider and vs do this. And if the solution is indexed this is fast.

wordofx··on Ask HN: What's your go-to message queue in 2025?
I use a visibility timeout.

So when selecting a message that isn’t started. It also looks for in progress ones that have been going longer than the timeout.

The update sets status, start time, and attempt counter.

If attempt counter equals 3 when the update happens, it sets the message to failed. The return looks at the stats sees failed and raises a notification.

Then if it’s a fix like correcting data or something I just reset the state to have it reprocess.

Never needed to track workers or cleanup jobs etc.

wordofx··on Ask HN: What's your go-to message queue in 2025?
It’s an r8g instance in aws. Can’t remember the size but I think it’s over provisioned because it’s at like 20% utilisation and only spikes to 50.
wordofx··on Ask HN: What's your go-to message queue in 2025?
Just select for update skipped locked. Table is partitioned to keep unprocessed small.
wordofx··on Ask HN: What's your go-to message queue in 2025?
Postgres. Doing ~ 70k messages/second average. Nothing huge but don’t need anything dedicated yet.

wordofx··on Ask HN: Cursor or Windsurf?
> I don't know if I misundersand something with Cursor or Copilot. It seems so much easier to use Claude Code than Cursor, as Claude Code has many more tools for figuring things out. Cursor also required me to add files to the context, which I thought it should 'figure out' on its own.

Cursor can find files on its own. But if you point it in the right direction it has far better results than Claude code.

Pointing out you’re wrong because you don’t understand how iOS apps works is against the rules? Ok.
wordofx··on iOS Kindle app now has a ‘get book’ button after changes to App Store rules
Lol that’s funny knowing in this analogy you want the cup holder in the boot because you don’t know what a cup holder is just that you know you want one.

It’s had a copy button forever. It’s allows you to scroll, select, copy.

It appears you don’t understand how iOS apps work. Have you ever tried building one?

> - Translate feature doesn’t have a copy button

Just selected text. Pressed translate. It says “copy translation”…

Opened up image. Translated text. Pressed copy translation.

> Keyboard is less accurate

I actually find androids default keyboard less accurate when typing or using the predictive text. I use the swipe to text all the time on iPhone.

> - Multitasking (apps should shut down after some time spent idle, instead they have to be manually closed)

lol no

Never needed to clear cache?

It sounds like you just don’t like apple to be honest. Finding things to nitpick. I have a pixel phone and iPhone so I can do testing and while I have no issues with the pixel. I much prefer iOS. It just works, feels more consistent, and the phone is faster than the pixel despite it being a iPhone 13. It’s still as fast as when I bought it, while the pixel just feels slow compared to when I bought it a year ago, and it’s mainly used for testing…

How is it worse? It’s better now for me than years ago.

GraphQL is the new mongodb. This fancy new thing that people want to use and makes no sense in reality and just causes more problems than it solves. It solves a very specific problem that makes sense at Facebook. It makes 0 sense for companies that have a web app or web and mobile app. And nothing else. Anyone deciding to use graphql is making a dumb decision.

wordofx··on Burning Mao
40m 80m. Does it really matter? It doesn’t change the fact he starved his country while he lived like a king all in the name of making China look better and richer than it was. It also doesn’t change the fact that it wasn’t until China opened up and embraced capitalism and rolled back Mao policies that it actually grew.

And yet it democratic voting areas it’s democrats who are blocking poll watchers and challengers or are suspect of voter fraud when they don’t close voting or have suitcases randomly show up and quickly shuffled in.

It’s only democratic areas who don’t want voter id.

wordofx··on Only Teslas exempt from new auto tariffs thanks to 85% domestic content rule
lol so you are ok with the party you oppose skipping votes for your party because it happened behind closed doors and poll watchers / challengers are not allowed in.
wordofx··on Only Teslas exempt from new auto tariffs thanks to 85% domestic content rule
Democrats will win by advocating no voter id and preventing anyone watching the vote counting. Again.

No one can do anything in the west because you can’t mine or process anything. Countries like China have no regulations preventing the processing of raw materials.

> This site was a "culture" shock for me, back in 200x and made me walk away from Microsoft ASP.NET and start building apps on linux

What stopped you from building such apps on Asp.net? It didn’t prevent you from building anything like that. You could stop creates style sheets and separate JS files.

> realizing all those "server controls" with inline style parameters were basically the complete wrong way, the "anti internet way".

Ironically what’s old is new again because we have literally gone full circle even down to nextjs? Recreating view state… and tailwind with inline styling and shadcn with react components.

Yeah can we stop spreading this misinformation. His quote was in reference to grotesque nature of something he saw.

> Miyazaki was shown an AI-generated character. The character was a scary monster that used its head as a leg because it couldn’t feel pain. The person presenting it said its movements could be used in making a zombie video game.

To which he stated:

> Every morning, not in recent days, I see my friend who has a disability. It’s so hard for him just to do a high five; his arm with stiff muscle can’t reach out to my hand. Now, thinking of him, I can’t watch this stuff and find it interesting. Whoever creates this stuff has no idea what pain is. I’m utterly disgusted. If you really want to make creepy stuff, you can go ahead and do it. I would never wish to incorporate this technology into my work at all. I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself.
