wolfgangK··on Everyone's an idiot some of the time (Scott Adams anecdote)
You might want to learn about "fundamental attribution error " as the truth is somewhere in between the op position and yours imo.

wolfgangK··on Why clean code is more important than efficient code
In my experience,it is much easier to find talented coders willing to improve the performance of clean (or at least sane) code than to find ones willing to endure insanity. This should not be underestimated when facing turnover in your development team.
wolfgangK··on Why clean code is more important than efficient code
Because it is easier to make clean code efficient than to clean efficient code. (I m talking about implementation (in-)efficiencies, not architectural ones)
wolfgangK··on What does the C++0x standardized memory model mean?
Those interested by this topic should check the following book (available as early access pdf) http://www.manning.com/williams/

wolfgangK··on Keynesian beauty contest
With a daily turnover of 4 trillions just on forex,it seems pretty obvious to me.

wolfgangK··on All these Brilliant People at Facebook Make Me Sad
That something is valuable to someone does not mean that it is useful for society as a whole cf. zero sum games or worse: Think about the guy whose job was to hide defects in nuclear power plant : certainly valuable for tepco, but for society as a whole? http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-03-23/fukushima-engineer-...
wolfgangK··on All these Brilliant People at Facebook Make Me Sad
Indeed. Not speaking about Facebook (no first hand experience to judge from) , but I 'm depressed by the amount of brainpower and wealth that our societies spend on zero-sum games such as high frequency trading and seo (I'm fully aware of there useful byproducts, but can't help to think that we'd be much better off with globally useful activities in the first place).
wolfgangK··on Scala on LLVM
I would have sworn that it was utf-16 (which is still Unicode enough btw) .
wolfgangK··on French regulators ban the words Facebook and Twitter from TV and radio
As far as I am concerned utter nonsense is in the OP 's mind "Facebook and Twitter are not simply businesses", not in the French regulation.Do we want alternative social networks to even stand a chance against the current networks?
wolfgangK··on French regulators ban the words Facebook and Twitter from TV and radio
If it is an incentive for shows to publicize their regular website instead of some dumb Facebook page,I'm all for it!
wolfgangK··on Implementing a fast interpreter without resorting to assembly
Too bad I'm coming late to the party, but those interested by this post might be interested by the test implementations that I made a few months ago to bench various design parameters of interpreters (bytecode size, gCC computed goto extension...) in high level (I.e boost::variant<>) C++. I don't have the numbers at hand but I remember it was very CPU dependant. You can try for yourself, it is only a few self contained small programs : https://github.com/scientific-coder/Computer-Languages/tree/...
