wodny··on SSH Examples, Tips and Tunnels
I must admit that I have learned 2 new things from this article, i.e.:

- -J to jump through multiple hosts (available since 7.3)

- -R creating a reverse SOCKS proxy (available since 7.6)

New (from a Debian user's perspective) features[1] hide among all the classics.

wodny··on EFail – Vulnerabilities in end-to-end encryption technologies OpenPGP and S/MIME
Not necessarily. Mail can be intercepted when transferred between MTAs which seem to be often vulnerable to STARTTLS stripping due to a fallback mechanism. See "Neither Snow Nor Rain Nor MITM... An Empirical Analysis of Email Delivery Security"[1].

Thanks for the great work. radare2 and binwalk[1] helped me debug quite a few things at work lately.

And there are quite a few schematics on Wikipedia:

It's a MESA->this[] of technologies :)

There is another great resource mainly about X11 called Xplain[1] with its accompanying repository[2] with some hidden (not yet ready I suppose) chapters. For example the override-redirect description[3].

wodny··on A Good Vimrc (2014)
I don't believe it's possible to have a good vimrc without really grasping some elementary concepts like movements, operators, registers, windows etc. I have recently watched all the Drew Neil's VimCasts[1] and after just a couple of hours I've realized I was missing a lot for at least 10 years. There is also quite a good presentation on YouTube by Max Cantor "How to Do 90% of What Plugins Do (With Just Vim)"[2]. Instead of treating a single vimrc as the best one it's useful to skim through dotfiles and plugins of some influential vim users like Drew Neil[3] and Tim Pope[4]. BTW VimCasts are accompanied by a book. The second edition[5] includes changes introduced by Vim 8.0.

wodny··on GitLab Database Incident – Live Report
This seems to be the best here. As a side note: if someone does something more complicated and uses piping find output to xargs, there are very important arguments to find and xargs to delimit names with binary zero -- -print0 and -0 respectively.

Very interesting article: https://www.dwheeler.com/essays/fixing-unix-linux-filenames.....
