We only find work email addresses, and to find emails we use a variety of methods - Some include checking the mail server, using various APIs, using social verification to see if the email is signed up somewhere, crawling the web, scraping domains, etc.

Also interestingly I get that question all the time and I've discussed it with the CEO of Kik.

I think it's a mix of a lot of things:simplistic UI, being one of the first IMs that don't need a phone number and also when everyone has it you have to have it to so... it only grows exponentially from here. Last thing people underestimate how viral kids and teens are one teen can literally convert his/her class in one day.

I wrote this article a while back but I never posted it to the Hacker News community. I would love to get feedback on the article.

That is NOT a tweet we wrote but an anonymous one by someone we do not know!

My goal is for this to be used for: giving feedback, poking fun at companies and politicians, or maybe having a fun time with your friends. I hope it is not used for abuse and I do have ways of prevent abuse in place!

I do have plans and ways of moderating in place but, for now I want to see what the community can do with it!

Whispererly is a twitter bot that allows you to send anonymous tweets by simply direct messaging it your tweets!

The bot can be used to joke around, express political views, give feedback to you're friends or any else you want it to be used for. We already have close to 200 tweets in the past two days and can't wait for what the Hacker News community comes up with!
