willitpamp573··on Massive Cloud Leak Exposes Alteryx, Experian, US Census Bureau Data
Did no one think to run TrustedAdvisor?
willitpamp573··on Announcing the OpenFaaS Function Store
Maybe you're running on non-AWS cloud or on-prem. Maybe you want to run a function that is written in a language that isn't supported by Lambda. Maybe your function is too complex for Lambda or would be too expensive. Maybe you already have a Kubernetes cluster running so deploying OpenFaaS is trivial and comes at no additional cost.
willitpamp573··on The Parity fallout: Which ICOs are affected?
Counterparty can run the EVM port, it doesn't run on the EVM port.
willitpamp573··on The Fight to Mine Your Data and Sell It to Your Boss
But you're missing out on all the valuable Services they provide!!! /s
willitpamp573··on The Parity fallout: Which ICOs are affected?
You're spot on. counterparty is a better platform for token offerings, and was the dominant platform until the term "ICO" emerged, and all token sales took to ERC-20.
willitpamp573··on Snap Inc. Third Quarter 2017 Results
You don't run a business, I can tell.
willitpamp573··on Parity Wallet security alert
Which defeats the purpose of Ethereum, which is to get in, get rich quick, and get out!
willitpamp573··on Azure Functions Now Support Java
It's a platform for hosting serverless functions. It lets you deploy your own lambda, on kubernetes/swarm
willitpamp573··on Azure Functions Now Support Java
Meanwhile, OpenFaaS supports every programming language out there...

willitpamp573··on BigchainDB – A scalable blockchain database
My Cassanda db can be "decentralized" too by your definition because I can have it distributed between multiple corporations, where multiple people have read/write access. This is extremely common practice.
willitpamp573··on BigchainDB – A scalable blockchain database
How is this different from Mysql with sharding+encryption?
willitpamp573··on Twitter says it could turn first-ever profit
Who is gonna pay to host the open distributed platform? Surely not the users
willitpamp573··on Facebook's Aggressive Moves on Startups Threaten Innovation
People just assume it won't happen because we assume Facebook has deep security expertise. And we assume Equifax got hacked because they (evidently) didn't.

I don't know whether it's a reasonable assumption or not.

willitpamp573··on Study Suggests Inequality Can Be Fixed with Wealth Redistribution, Not Tax Cuts
I like how it's a foregone conclusion that inequality is a "problem" that needs to be "fixed".
willitpamp573··on The Struggle with Where the Sidewalks Won't Go
I respect that you have that opinion knowing that you don't exclusively drive.

Personally I bike and walk exclusively (do not own a car) and would much prefer separated cycling/walking paths. I get that there is a cost associated with this, but I think the cost is comparatively low to that of even marginal improvements to highway infrastructure.

willitpamp573··on Edward Snowden: Zcash Is 'Most Interesting Bitcoin Alternative'
We wouldn't know if he did
willitpamp573··on Exploiting the Wi-Fi Stack on Apple Devices
Is Apple mad about this?
willitpamp573··on The Struggle with Where the Sidewalks Won't Go
Just a wild guess here, you only ever drive right?
willitpamp573··on Deploying a global, private CDN
I'm talking about seeding though. Seeding data to random peers will make my internet slower, not faster. I don't want to seed. If your service makes my machine start seeding to random people because I accidentally visited a website that uses your malware, then that sucks!

Maybe implement some kind of blockchain solution so that I get paid for the data I seed? (/s)

willitpamp573··on Deploying a global, private CDN
Obviously the plugin isn't the issue, the fact that my browser will now be uploading X MB/sec, which I have no control over, to random peers. This sucks, especially because I have capped monthly bandwidth from my penny-pinching ISP.

Why should I host and seed your data for free?

willitpamp573··on Bitcoin Is for Drugs
I can configure my database to require a private key be verified before data is committed to the database.

Not sure why you think blocks are important, but if you want, you can have the entries to the mysql database be batched into "blocks" and inserted all at once. Being connected to another set by hashing that data and putting it in a single record of the database (the "chain" part) is similarly trivial.

The only efficiency provided by the blockchain in your scenario is that it allows you to use blockchain terminology in marketing materials.

willitpamp573··on Move Over, Bitcoin. Ether Is the Digital Currency of the Moment
Ethereum is an obvious ponzi pump and dump scam.

I like how they frame the DAO hack as an opportunity for growth rather than a gross display of incompetence followed by a breaking of the original promise of immutability of the platform, which is what it was.

willitpamp573··on Bitcoin Is for Drugs
1 and 4 are not real solutions because they compromise your identity. 2 and 3 are correct.
willitpamp573··on Bitcoin Is for Drugs
BTC is only useful when it's the closest thing to USD that you're able to use for your business.

Users of bitcoin exit their position to USD as quickly as they possibly can.

willitpamp573··on Bitcoin Is for Drugs
>And yes, immutability can be achieved with traditional database systems, enforcing it with cryptography adds another layer.

You mean like... mysql with encryption and sharding? So my company's mysql database is a private blockchain?
