American companies are adversarial actors who always do the least effort to continue on.
So over time, you aren’t just subject to bugs in feature A. You’re subject to bugs in feature A and library B and framework C and injected monitoring D and so on for the same user action.
What counts as “obligation” to you? You can also generally walk out of a restaurant without paying.
Branding lets me use my past experiences to make that decision process easier. I don’t want to have to look at technical specs and try to SAT solve for the optimal choice in my head or play secret hitler and read 1000s of ratings.
Yeah, this is a pretty impressive technical solution to a problem created by the company. “We’re too cheap to buy equipment for our employees to use, so instead we need to spy on all of your personal data.”
Right? If they actually cared about privacy they’d forego revenue for it. Sadly it’s just for marketing.
Exactly. You are not the customer. Your IT admin is. And they have to convince your security team while managing spend. Why wouldn’t they pick the “free” option that your company has already approved for deployment?
