Did you read the next sentence?
whostolemyhat··on Anthropic, Google, OpenAI and XAI Granted Up to $200M from Defense Department
they're prepared to deploy reams of incoherent code? Gosh
whostolemyhat··on Left-Pad (2024)
Left-pad was made at a time when tree-shaking wasn't really around, so it was good practice to only include the functions you needed to avoid making websites too heavy. If you just needed a small function then it'd be silly to include a huge utility library like Underscore.
whostolemyhat··on GIMP 3.0
Yes, why bother learning how to use things?

(or invest in UX/user research)

whostolemyhat··on Type 1 diabetes reversed by new cell transplantation technique
5 years away?
whostolemyhat··on CSS @property and the new style
Right, so you don't really understand the problem area and don't know the syntax, so think that something that you can't immediately understand must be a negative change.
whostolemyhat··on Apple hit with over 1.8B euro EU antitrust fine in Spotify case
Could you give any examples? I'd say GDPR was an incredibly well-thought-out bit of legislation
whostolemyhat··on Learn how modern JavaScript frameworks work by building one
Why not?
whostolemyhat··on De-crufted Windows 11 coming to Europe soon
DMA already paying off
whostolemyhat··on My Node.js is a bit Rusty
Amazing, you read a fairly brief article with a terse description of the problem, and are now convinced you know better than the author.
whostolemyhat··on Upcoming .com and .xyz domain price increase
Why's that? I've always found Namecheap's UI to be pretty bad - slow, inconsistent on mobile and takes several clicks to find the list of domains I actually own.

What about that is positive?

whostolemyhat··on TypeScript 5.2's new keyword: 'Using'
The article mentions that this proposal is in stage 3 for Javascript, so will probably be refined a bit more https://tc39.es/process-document/
whostolemyhat··on UN Human Rights Chief Urges UK to Reverse ‘Deeply Troubling’ Public Order Bill
The Republic protest was a planned protest, ie they were co-ordinating with the police for weeks beforehand about what they were going to do, where and when, which the Met told them was ok[1]. Then on the morning they were arrested, and have now been released and not charged.

whostolemyhat··on UN Human Rights Chief Urges UK to Reverse ‘Deeply Troubling’ Public Order Bill
That's the Met's version of events; what they actually did was arrest charity workers the night before, from a charity the Met works closely with[1].

whostolemyhat··on Node.js 20 is now available
Yeah, not sure why a release note would mention a competitor?
whostolemyhat··on Replying to comments about our web page design
It is accessible - it matches standards and is available in text-only browsers.
whostolemyhat··on Modern SPAs without bundlers, CDNs, or Node.js
Is there a reason you decided to come into a Javascript thread just to tell everyone how much you dislike Javascript?
whostolemyhat··on Modern SPAs without bundlers, CDNs, or Node.js
What a silly thing to say.
whostolemyhat··on I still use Flash
Unity's been working on an ECS option for a while now
whostolemyhat··on Scottish Parliament does not have power to legislate an independence referendum
Most cities in Britain voted remain; since the population of London is higher than Scotland, should London have an independence referendum, especially since England doesn't have its' own parliament?
whostolemyhat··on Ask HN: Good resource on writing web app with plain JavaScript/HTML/CSS?
> The hate for JS frameworks is usually warranted

It's almost never warranted.

whostolemyhat··on We've hit 1M monthly active users
Rubbish
whostolemyhat··on We became experts on Google Play Store policy violations
Yep, Google's communication was pretty unclear, but the developer is being repeatedly called out for the same underlying problem which they haven't addressed at all.
whostolemyhat··on Six months as a full time pancreas
What a stupid thing to say
whostolemyhat··on Astro 1.0 – a web framework for building fast, content-focused websites
In that case, it'd be interesting to see the benefits of Astro vs something like Gatsby
whostolemyhat··on How I went about learning Rust
> Also, the community is toxic.

I've found the complete opposite, Rust communities are the least hostile programming environments I've come across.

There's also a huge amount of irony about saying a community is toxic on this site

whostolemyhat··on Deno raises $21M
Javascript is Typescript - TS is a superset of JS, so valid JS is valid TS, although you'd almost certainly get lint errors in dev complaining about lack of types.
whostolemyhat··on OneTrust lays off 25% Workforce
They employ ~4000 people? What on earth where they all doing?
whostolemyhat··on Today’s JavaScript, from an outsider’s perspective (2020)
> why should ECMAscript care about what node does?

Yes, why should EcmaScript pay any attention to one of the most popular uses of the language with millions of people using it every day?
