whoibrar··on Show HN: Building a 42-inch E-Ink frame for generative art
I would like all my future electricity bills to be calculated in terms of "HackerNews Read time"
whoibrar··on Thanks, David Peter
I have seen this enough times that I now remember that comic by its number
whoibrar··on A Technical Film Report on Project Deep Ops (1972) [video]
It's absolutely mind blowing to think the whales will be able to do this in early 70s.

I can only wonder if what could be possible by today's hardware and monitoring techniques.

There's a Wikipedia article on marine animal training : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_mammal_training

whoibrar··on The new .zip TLD is going to cause some problems
The only good use of this domain.
whoibrar··on Ask HN: Most interesting tech you built for just yourself?
Thank you so much for making it, when I started getting into the habit of digital journal, it had helped me a lot to not fix grammar and to not cringe at the things I've just written down.
whoibrar··on Show HN: A Google Reader-inspired RSS reader
I got 501 Gateway, if that helps
whoibrar··on Alexa, what is my wifi password?
Learned this today, Great to see the progress you've made over you the years.
whoibrar··on The Cambrian Period of AI
Well Written, Reading this felt like a breath of fresh air amid all the fog and pollution by "AI will take all our jobs" and "How to $$$ with AI".
whoibrar··on Ramadan shows up in Internet trends (2022)
I was having this discussion with a friend recently that the porn usage also drops significantly during various religious festivals. I don't have any firm data to back up my hypothesis but I did find one news article.

whoibrar··on Chronophoto
yes, I would 100 percentage watch it
whoibrar··on Ask HN: What are the worst names given to employees of specific companies?
Not necessarily bad name, but the company where I'm currently in is itself called "CAW", short for "Chimps At Work".

The founder is ex-Microsoft and apparently, Chimp was a title given to Microsoft employees working on new projects.

whoibrar··on Show HN: Names
I'm not disappointed, just reminded that internet is amazing.
whoibrar··on Writing down what I do in Obsidian
This is just someone sharing their workflow. What makes you think this is an actual ad ?
whoibrar··on MDN converted to Markdown
I agree with this. Reddit and Discord both use markdown and I've been using it for ages without ever knowing it's called Markdown.

I just thought it's a neat trick you can apply italics by underscore and make text stand out with back ticks around.

Even least technical people using bold/italics/indent on WhatsApp are using markdown in a way.

whoibrar··on Show HN: The Typing of the RegEX
Yes. One or two potential answers could be really helpful features.

It's too much to ask but I also wish to see recent submissions.

whoibrar··on Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in
yes. Let that "sink" in.
whoibrar··on TigYog
I second this. Show and don't tell.
whoibrar··on Finding the perfect domain name
I really like short and clever domains one of my favourite example is https://oh.mg
whoibrar··on New (LTE) Rotary Cell Phone [video]
This is contributing to the thread telling the project is wholesome.

whoibrar··on Ask HN: What's Your Biggest Regret?
wasn't expecting to read this at the time I logged on but glad to have read it anyways (:
whoibrar··on The Thorny Problem of Keeping the Internet's Time
This quote hits hard

Coders who contribute to it, she said, should feel proud enough to declare, “Everyone uses the software, it’s in everything, and I wrote it!” It’s striking how few people know Mills’s name, given how many know the pseudonym of whoever created Bitcoin."
I never heard of Mill before, and am just glad to have read and known this critical man and technology to internet infrastructure.
whoibrar··on Idea: Suggester of Dating Ideas for Couples
The only way I could see this working is if the app was more passive where the could save stuff in the app and discuss it.

For example say you found a really cool recipe on the web that you want to save and share, you would then share that link with the app and add relevant tags for category and time and place.

Later you also found a cool hangout spot that you'll want to go, share link to app, add tags and done.

Use Case:

Now you meet your partner and you have an hour together but don't know what to do ?

You can now open the app, sort for 1hr time and it shows all the things you both have wanted to do say cook a particular recipe or go to that place.

This could very well be achieved by any planning app or something similar but having a dedicated app would work who knows!

whoibrar··on Ask HN: How was your move back to India?
Hyderabad is basically Bangalore but without traffic, better infrastructure and great food.

The govt is also pushing forward the Tech space. Just check the new t-hub

whoibrar··on Amazon’s $23M book about flies (2011)
How do you find previously posted thrrads ? is there a specific script or they remember stuff really well ?
whoibrar··on I Am an Object of Internet Ridicule, Ask Me Anything
One of the most engaging pieces I've ever read.
whoibrar··on Ask HN: Working as a software engineer for 5 years, I've forgotten all CS stuff
That's not how any of this works.
whoibrar··on Photopea: A Photoshop clone web app
I've been using this on/off for sometime. I've realised must of my editing is very basic and this has been overkill for little tasks as adding text overlay and cropping.
whoibrar··on Tell HN: Twitter has been taken over by one-word tweets
Same with me. I'm very strict about what goes into my feed. Thankfully I'm away from mainstream Twitter.
whoibrar··on Types of Prostitution in Modern Japan

It is a form of genital-genital rubbing performed by a female sex worker upon a male client. The sex worker rubs the client's penis with her thighs (intercrural sex) and labia majora. The goal is to stimulate ejaculation without penile vaginal penetration, an activity circumventing the Anti-Prostitution Law.

Modern Problems require morden solution.
