whenwillitstop··on How Microsoft computer scientists and researchers are working to 'solve' cancer
Are you claiming you know how to solve cancer?
whenwillitstop··on Companies would benefit from helping introverts to thrive
It's really not that they dont get it. It's that they dont have technical problems to solve that require a person of that tenure or experience. Many large corporations actively make an effort to avoid solving hard technical problems, they are business oriented, not technically oriented.
whenwillitstop··on We’re in the Middle of a Data Engineering Talent Shortage
My experiences exactly, pinged by companies obsessively for my big data skills, all trying to pay me less than I am currently making.
whenwillitstop··on Canadian surgeons urge people to throw out bristle BBQ brushes
I'll second this
whenwillitstop··on New research shows Europe leads the world in inherited wealth
The spread is also larger. The difference between the bottom 20% and the top 20% in the USA is higher than in Europe. So measuring by that is useless, since, in general, a 40%er in the USA is better off than a 40%er in Europe. Thanks for the propaganda though!
whenwillitstop··on The Neuroscience Behind Bad Decisions
It has been shown that most 'studies' in pyschology are not reproducible. Science was built on reproducibility...
whenwillitstop··on Building a Real-Time Recommendation Engine
Can you though? My impression is that it doesnt scale to large data sets. The use cases for true graph databases (over shaky implementations on HBase/Cassandra) sparse in my opinion.
whenwillitstop··on How often do you see nepotism/ethnic bias in Software industry?
LOL. People are seeing their cultures being sold away and are angry
whenwillitstop··on We’re in a Low-Growth World. How Did We Get Here?
The problem is that we live in a world governed by natural forces, and not by spiritual revolutions.
whenwillitstop··on IBM Watson correctly diagnoses a form of leukemia
Watson is hyped by the media.
whenwillitstop··on When the Body Attacks the Mind
To late in the sense that his mind is already gone at this point? I have a brother who also has schizophrenia, and as time goes on I wonder if any chance of return to normality still exists...
whenwillitstop··on Up to 70% of people in developed countries 'have seen incomes stagnate'
In a completely undeveloped ecoonomy, there is no money to be made domestically. It is all coming from producing for advanced economies. One of the biggest fallacies in current times is that of a growing pie. People in the United States are starting to catch on as the middle class vanishes.
whenwillitstop··on An API for hosted deep learning models
Mind going a bit deeper into this?
whenwillitstop··on Up to 70% of people in developed countries 'have seen incomes stagnate'
Rising a country out of poverty is close to zero sum. When they rise out, those incomes are coming from people in developed countries.
whenwillitstop··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (July 2016)
Yeah, but that's because coding web sites is their main skill set. It says nothing about their raw cognition, except that it's above some necessary level.
whenwillitstop··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (July 2016)
Which is generally true. Why is this such an issue. Computer Science PHDs are on average definitely smarter than web developers.

I think this comment and the ones above are a micro example of the politically correct culture we live in. Why cant someone make a statement about the advantages/difference in traits between two groups of people? Is this so dreadful?

whenwillitstop··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (July 2016)
Yup, let's live in a society where everyone gets a trophy!
whenwillitstop··on Anatomy of an Elasticsearch Cluster: Part I
It's actually kind of terrible. It leaves out a ton of the caveats and detailed information. Once you start using elastic search heavily, the docs are almost useless.
whenwillitstop··on Ways to maximize your cognitive potential
My apologies, didn't realize there was a difference between two drugs that both flood your receptors with dopamine in almost the exact same brain regions.
whenwillitstop··on Ways to maximize your cognitive potential
Why arent athletes the most intelligent then? Generally in society there is considered a negative correletion between people that exercise/play a ton of sports and intelligence. Whether this is true or not is up to debate, but stereotypes exist for a reason...
whenwillitstop··on Ways to maximize your cognitive potential
You mean legal cocaine?
whenwillitstop··on How to Start Learning Deep Learning
Yeah I'm interested in this as well, and cannot find the information anywhere...
