whatwhaaaaat··on The origin of the cargo cult metaphor
So you don’t believe in forced language unless it includes issues you believe should be forced language changes.

Thanks for making my point.

whatwhaaaaat··on The Origins of Wokeness
The covid vaccines were never tested for transmission.

How does herd immunity make any sense when it was never tested for transmission?

whatwhaaaaat··on Apple will soon receive 'made in America' chips from TSMC's Arizona fab
The scenario that we’re going to be able to fight a war with another first world power, where we will attack their infrastructure but ours will be left untouched, seems unlikely.
whatwhaaaaat··on The Origins of Wokeness
“Bro” but you did.

The federal government censored speech it didn’t like by PAYING social media to delete it. In many instances it was content that was objectively true.

Public schools are right now telling children in kindergarten they can choose their own gender. They cannot.

The federal government wanted to implement policies to require administration of an experimental gene therapy, that didn’t even work and was never even tested for protection against transmission, and many many people were forced in to taking it if they wanted to keep their job.

I’ve voted for left progressive candidates for 20 years but I can’t vote for this shit any more and judging by the recent election neither can over half of America. Have fun crying about trump for the next four years.

It’s just the people online posting non-stop. The rest of us, checking in only when time allows, are not commenting 30 times in a single thread. (Check some of the posters here)

Same thing happened with the rest of the nonsense over the last 5 years. From social media you would think everyone took the clot shot. 1/3 didn’t but you’d never have known that from HN or other social media.

There is a small but loud contingent who wants to dictate our language, how we teach our children, and what we put in to our bodies. The good news is most people are not stupid and are completely rejecting it - in real life.

whatwhaaaaat··on Laser mapping reveals oldest Amazonian cities, built 2500 years ago (2024)
I can assure you my comment has nothing to do with any Netflix show. Or any ancient history.

We only need to go back 300 years to find the history we’re told isn’t reality. Do we think the Voc went silently into the night? Did the banking families of the 1800s reproduce to such a degree their fortunes are no more? We can keep going.

whatwhaaaaat··on It's time to abandon the cargo cult metaphor
Just understand if you’re the one forcing language, hiring based on race, and forcing people to take part in medical experiments — you’re the regressive one.

There is nothing progressive about any of that.

whatwhaaaaat··on Laser mapping reveals oldest Amazonian cities, built 2500 years ago (2024)
The reality of the modern world cannot be explained by the history we are told.
whatwhaaaaat··on Does current AI represent a dead end?
We’re going to need to see this working. From my perspective many of the corporate llms are actually getting worse. Slop feedback loops.

By no means has it been proven that llms functioning the way you describe will result in superior output.

whatwhaaaaat··on Coke, PepsiCo Lobby to Keep Sugary Sodas in Food-Stamp Program
What advantages are there to having chemicals in food that are banned in most of Europe as known carcinogens? Red 40. Some oils. Etc?
whatwhaaaaat··on Coke, PepsiCo Lobby to Keep Sugary Sodas in Food-Stamp Program
What good do you believe comes from pharma companies advertising on television?
whatwhaaaaat··on Why are Americans paying so much more for healthcare than they used to?
That seems a bit disingenuous. I don’t hear anyone outside of rabid leftest circles asking for anyone else to pay their bills.

What people don’t want is their doctor saying they need something while a guy in a suit tells them they can’t have it. To make matters worse the patient pays for the guy in a suits e class.

There are basically two groups of people involved in this.

Those that have not had a loved one denied needed care by an insurance company who they pay and those that have.

If you cannot identify the twisted profit motives in the American health care system that is your problem.

whatwhaaaaat··on U.S. math scores drop on major international test
If covid did that, and as Peter dazic said coronavirus are “driven by their spike protein”, then what exactly were the impacts of messenger rna telling your body to replicate the spike?
whatwhaaaaat··on Ancient Sumerians created the first writing system
Ahh ok so you got nothing. I figured so. Thanks for confirming!
whatwhaaaaat··on Ancient Sumerians Created the First Writing System
I’d be interested a concrete example of how you believe the 1980s was somehow different as far as government services today - and our course what country.
whatwhaaaaat··on Denmark will plant 1B trees and convert 10% of farmland into forest
Let me get this right. To save the planet Denmark wants to stop producing food locally and instead import more? So those pig farts gotta go but the bunker fuel used to ship grain from a slash and burn rainforest farm in Brazil is a-ok.

Utterly brain dead. So much so that you know someone’s getting paid from these decisions.

whatwhaaaaat··on Japan ranked 31st in digital competitiveness, 92nd for English skills
Crazy to hear as a person who lived there for 7 years and had to conduct 0 conversations in Dutch in business, daily commerce, or interactions with the government. There are trilingual bums.. The only people who didn’t speak English didn’t speak Dutch either.
whatwhaaaaat··on Intel might be too big to fail
Great idea. Let’s let the same people who built and managed healthcare.gov build bombs and airplanes.
whatwhaaaaat··on IPv6 may already be irrelevant – but so is moving off IPv4
Are you sure about this? It’s in the rfc from like 1998 that ISPs should allow customers to sla for larger prefixes. I don’t know a single US isp that doesn’t allow at least a 56.

IPv6 is pointless and still a security risk but I’m guessing you’re misconfiguring something.

whatwhaaaaat··on Bluesky gains 1.2M in 2 days, 12M total after X disables blocking
What a stupid thing to get mad about. Blocking someone should (and can only) prevent the blocker from seeing the blocked. It cannot prevent the blocked user from seeing the blocker’s posts because the blocked user can log out or worse create a new account.

But that’s right elon bad so x must be doin hate crime.

whatwhaaaaat··on Hacking Kia: Remotely controlling cars with just a license plate
What about door locks? Or the ignition that had to be ripped out to use the usb stick trick? Does everyone have to use a club or hidden kill switch to not have them blamed.

I’d be willing to guess you won’t use this word salad when describing sexual crimes.

whatwhaaaaat··on Malaysia started mandating ISPs to redirect DNS queries to local servers
don’t forget the us federal government paid twitter and Facebook to remove speech it didn’t like (speech that turned out to be true).
whatwhaaaaat··on Kim Dotcom's extradition to the U.S. given green light by New Zealand
I betcha he was whistling 2600. How is that different?
whatwhaaaaat··on NSA tracks Google ads to find Tor users
what is this program called?

The fact that we tolerate this shit is unbelievable.

whatwhaaaaat··on Kim Dotcom's extradition to the U.S. given green light by New Zealand
Know any decent computer nerds in the 80s/90s that weren’t at least dabbling in that stuff?

Hell there was a whole monthly meeting and magazine dedicated to that sort of behavior. Criminal? Yes. Part of hacker culture? Also yes.

Too bad Mr Goldstein lost all credibility (that he may or may not have had) when he started shaming folks for not taking the clot shot.

whatwhaaaaat··on Study shows that tacking the “AI” label on products may drive people away
I live in the Midwest. I don’t know what all your other reply’s to other people say.

I’m not sure what your point is substituting one language for another - you can’t take a guy who’s painted cars his whole life and retool him to “cnc programming” even if the lathes didn’t git moved with the rest of production. The c suite did hit their stock goals tho so at least that is good!

If you’re telling a blue collar worker who’s been laid off “adapt or die” then you have contempt for those very love ones you claim to sympathize with.

whatwhaaaaat··on Study shows that tacking the “AI” label on products may drive people away
This could be a really funny comment in 5 years if the plagiarism generators actually worked.

You could be out of a job with as little control of the whole situation as those rustbeltians you have such disregard for.

NAFTA and globalism killed the rustbelt. The refusal of auto plant Larry to learn Java didn’t.

When you ship off a persons job in mass this is what happens.

whatwhaaaaat··on CrowdStrike broke Debian and Rocky Linux months ago
It’s also the proliferation of not-really-technical people calling the shots and even developing at technical programs.

15 years ago most people in the industry actually wanted to be there except for perhaps a few exceptions.

Now it’s just like any other job with the majority of developers not giving a shit about what comes out which turns out to be shit.

I haven’t ran in to a senior or lower developer that actually bothered to test their junk in at least a few years.

whatwhaaaaat··on Warframe devs report 80% of game crashes happen on Intel's Core i9 chips
Are you sure it’s not becuase their data set likely doesn’t contain very many i7 non-ks

Interesting. 12900k has no issues with either.
