what··on Have an LLC
This is kind of California specific. There isn’t really a work around if you’re “doing business” in California.
what··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
It sounds like he probably forgot about them until his trader friends brought up nvidia. Otherwise why would he go digging through his documents upon being reminded?
what··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
He’s not complaining about the options he exercised, rather the ones he didn’t and would now be worth a billion.
what··on Have an LLC
If you live in California, you likely have to register in California. So you really only have one option, unless you want to register in two places. You’ll also have to pay at least $800/year for the pleasure.
what··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
There’s something wrong with you.
what··on When did Google get so weird?
Yes, sure, it’s to be social. But if someone asks a stupid trivia question, then just give them the answer. You’re not starting a discussion with a stupid trivia question. You are truly weird.
what··on When did Google get so weird?
Yes, I hate this. The old knowledge panel was way better.
what··on When did Google get so weird?
>It's like when you're in the pub and and someone asks "who was that guy who was in the movie where…?" you can either chat with your friends and have a good time or be a buzzkill who opens up IMDB and says "Humphrey Bogart".

I don’t really understand this. Someone wants an answer not a chat about how you don’t know?

what··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
Half the country being fat and not wanting to take responsibility?
what··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
This has to be the most retarded thing I’ve read all year. There is nothing physical about writing a test for 4 hours.
what··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
Focusing is mental activity, not physical.
what··on Ask HN: Hypothesis: Cellular providers are deprioritizing voice calls?
This doesn’t make sense. Are you suggesting I start a telecom so I can offer pay as you go?
what··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
Not being able to focus for 4 hours seems like a bigger problem. But it’s also entirely orthogonal to your distinction of “teaching the test” vs “actually educating”. You can’t teach people to focus for 4 hours.
what··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
Being fat is a moral failing though? It’s also not portrayed that way, see the entire body positivity/healthy at every size movement.
what··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
Seems conflicting. If they’re “actually educating” the students, they should know the material and have no problem on a test?
what··on One Month Without AI
I’ll be honest, I can’t really quantify it. But the immediate stink is the nonsensical documentation and code comments it spits out. They’re completely unintelligible. I think when I see those I’m predisposed to think everything else going to be equally low quality. I usually just bounce, but when I don’t I just have a really hard time understanding wtf is going on with the code.
what··on One Month Without AI
You can almost immediately smell the stink of Claude on a codebase. Maybe there’s nothing “wrong” with the code (it must work, right?) but it’s somehow incredibly off putting.
what··on What happens when you analyze your favorite college football team like the CIA?
Okay. So how accurate is it?
what··on Ask HN: Hypothesis: Cellular providers are deprioritizing voice calls?
Still, you used to be able to preload $5 of minutes/sms onto a phone and it would last until you used it up. I don’t want a monthly fee.
what··on Ask HN: Hypothesis: Cellular providers are deprioritizing voice calls?
It seems like everyone is missing the “pay as you go” aspect. I don’t want to pay $15/month. I want plop down $X and pay per minute/sms until it runs out.
what··on Ask HN: Hypothesis: Cellular providers are deprioritizing voice calls?
>$99/year

Still too high for a phone number I expect to get an sms per day.

what··on Ask HN: Hypothesis: Cellular providers are deprioritizing voice calls?
No, pay as you go. I want to put $5 and pay whatever per minute/sms until it runs out.
what··on Ask HN: Hypothesis: Cellular providers are deprioritizing voice calls?
I wish they would bring back prepaid/pay as you go service. I want a number where I can receive/send an occasional call or text without having to pay a monthly contract.
what··on Supreme Court permits states to use SAVE database for citizenship checks
> Constitutionally, states cannot deny citizens the right to vote

You sure?

Citizens currently serving a prison term for the conviction of a felony cannot vote.

Citizens found mentally incompetent by a court cannot vote.

what··on Allow Carriers on Planes
Most airlines offer bassinets for babies. You can only get them in front rows where they get attached to the wall in front of the seats. They’ve got a mesh top that your supposed to keep zipped up while the baby is in there.
what··on Google’s Project Suncatcher to put ML infrastructure in space
Maybe you only discount the idea because “Elon”?
what··on Transit rewards
How is it misleading? Taking the total cost to operate and dividing by the number of rides tells you what it costs per ride.

I’d be more interested to know how so many people are paying less than $1 for a mini trip when the fare is closer to $3.

what··on OpenAI is well positioned to fast-follow Jev
> tweak the Jev prompt a little until the issue goes away

But makes issues for someone (or everyone) else?

what··on 'We hacked the FBI:' Hackers say they have data on all FBI employees
Weird, electrical grids didn’t exist before the internet?
what··on 'We hacked the FBI:' Hackers say they have data on all FBI employees
People buying less shit on Amazon (or e-commerce in general) would be side benefit. So much waste.
