werid··on Netflix Is Now Available Around the World
It depends where you are. There are different offerings: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HBO_%28international%29
werid··on Woman who has never felt pain experiences it for the first time
"She was burned with a laser, and quite liked the experience."
werid··on I may be the only evil bit user on the internet
The RFC is from 1990, the implementation from 2001.
werid··on The most popular curl download – by a malware
You would not end up wasting any time of the malware developer, as the article states:

"an updated version of the malware comes bundled with the curl library"

werid··on Important Security Notice from Patreon
> unauthorized access to registered names, email addresses, posts, and some shipping addresses. Additionally, some billing addresses

Considering patreon has some users who have been, and still are, targets of harassment, this could be much worse than having their credit card or password leaked.

werid··on Christopher Poole Reveals Why He Walked Away from 4Chan
> it is a big source of support for a lot of people otherwise left behind by the mainstream

do you think it's healthy to stay in an echo chamber for long periods of time?

werid··on I Am Sam Altman, Reddit Board Member and President of Y Combinator. AMA
The android AMA app is decent. Website, not so much.
werid··on The Allure of the Prison Break
Consequences would be the solitary part.

but "forget to refill their pain med prescription." is something I would consider to be worse than whatever sexual harassment she received.

people in authority executing personal punishments should be thrown in jail themselves.

werid··on Today is the end of sheloshim for my beloved husband
He died a month ago, so I don't know why you are mentioning the headlines of the last few days.

A quick google search reveals a bbc.co.uk news story about the death.

werid··on What one may find in robots.txt
Now it's indexed by search engines?
werid··on Wi-Fi hack creates 'no iOS zone' that cripples iPhones and iPads
The last paragraph in the article:

"The researchers say they have warned Apple of the error, and are refraining from releasing technical details about it until after the company has issued a fix. Apple did not respond to a comment request ahead of publication."

werid··on Automate the Boring Stuff with Python
It's python 3
werid··on RainbowStream: A Twitter client on the terminal
https://alpha.app.net/doctorlinguist/post/19370071

"[...] it is very unlikely I will do further updates on TTYtter given my wish for Twitter, Inc. to DIAF [...]"

Awhile ago, if you tweeted a link to another tweet, twitter embedded the tweet. They're now doing the same with a new function for retweets. "RT with a comment" appears like your comment with a link to the tweet you RT.

This tweet: https://twitter.com/daraobriain/status/587954257816588288

Appears like this:

u5> [15:23:00] <daraobriain> Has this JUST happened? Jesus. https://twitter.com/fionapm2001/status/587953715883151360

werid··on RainbowStream: A Twitter client on the terminal
This one is abandoned by its author. And now starting to become useless, after twitter changed how they display retweets (if you add comments), basicly you get the comment and then a link to the tweet.

Rainbowstream looks good, works well as far as I tested, but leaves a bit to be desired in the way you interact with it. Being able to just type to tweet in ttytter was nice, with all commands starting with a slash - a bit like IRC.

Rainbowstream's "conversation" command is way too long. I use ttytter's /th command quite a lot, very short.

werid··on Voyage to Nowhere: The Amazon Kindle Story
It's paperwhite that has no physical buttons. Voyage has them again, but apparently they don't act quite like the old buttons.
werid··on Important Notice About Your Twitch Account
here's a screenshot of the email sent to an 'affected party'

For partners, their personal details being leaked is much worse. Think more swattings, pranks etc.

werid··on Why GNU grep is fast (2010)
the source this time is probably twitter: https://twitter.com/b0rk/status/573535058797031424
werid··on Vivaldi – A new browser for our friends
In an interview with digi.no, they speak of feeling abandoned by Opera when they switched to their new chrome version, and that they weren't alone. Maybe that's their friends. Old Opera 12 users.
werid··on “I paid $25 for an Invisible Boyfriend, and I think I might be in love”
She doesn't need an invisible boyfriend. She's testing it for the article.

In one of her texts to "Ryan" she writes: "Ha, you're better than my real bf".

werid··on Pinterest’s Problem: Getting Men to Commit
A visual bookmark is only an advantage when the sight of something is better for your memory than a title and/or tags.
werid··on Website with 1000s of live baby monitors, web cams and CCTV feeds has shut down
In this case, the website showed webcams which were protected by passwords, but they were using default ones.

I don't think shodan does that.

werid··on A new team at Reddit
I believe it's this: https://www.reddit.com/user/ekjp
werid··on OVH servers exploited through shellshock
Just having a vulnerable bash isn't enough to break in. You also need something that uses it. A CGI script available via webserver, or some other service (I hear OpenVPN had issues...)
werid··on 2.5M Installs Later, R.I.P. Downloader for SoundCloud
Just a few days after they annonced a deal with Warner Music Group...

werid··on Just had a heart attack
> The 'typical' signs of a heart attack are chest pain usually described as dull, heavy or tight, with radiation to the arm(s) and neck. The patient often also complains of diaphoresis (sweating) , shortness of breath and perhaps weakness.

This is mostly for men, right? I've read previously that the symptoms for women are quite different.

werid··on The State of Oregon vs. Oracle [pdf]
They represent missing content. Similar in usage to ellipsis, but might indicate a larger text missing. Afaik, not redacted text, but edited down to contain only the main information.
werid··on Germany is pressuring Neocities to censor a disclosure of their censorship
But that's a DNS blocker I assume, which is used in many countries. ISPs use them "voluntarily"...
