welpwelp··on Tesla Autopilot
There's so much room for error I can't wait to see how this will turnout.
welpwelp··on Portraits of Imaginary People
Sometimes I wonder at the uniqueness of each individual's face. It just amazes me how everybody, no matter how numerous we have, has a different face. With the exception of twins and non-familial coincidental twins.
welpwelp··on Ask HN: How do you become productive in a new project as a senior developer?
Get into the project by working right away on implementing a new feature or fixing an existing bug. Then spend additional time from your spare time learning the new stack. Bam, productive by end of week 1, 2 at the latest.
welpwelp··on Facebook fined €110M for providing misleading information on WhatsApp takeover
Who's profiting from these 110M? :3
welpwelp··on A startup’s Firebase bill suddenly increased from $25 to $1750 per month
Oh I'm glad my Google App Engine service never became popular!
welpwelp··on DocuSign email address database breached and used for phishing campaign
They still got me! :>
welpwelp··on DocuSign email address database breached and used for phishing campaign
I did get an email from them which looked actually legit and opened it. It redirected me to a 404.

Is there a chance I could've been compromised in any way? I'm guessing they couldn't have gotten much more than my IP address, maybe some cookies, all my passwords, private life?

Welp
welpwelp··on Show HN: My first native iOS app – Cone, a real time color picker
Because I'm no data scientist but I somewhat understand that a RNN can extrapolate a training set. Nearest neighbors are cool too!
welpwelp··on Show HN: My first native iOS app – Cone, a real time color picker
It's certainly worth its price but I wonder how many people would pay for it. Nice work! I like the design.
welpwelp··on Show HN: My first native iOS app – Cone, a real time color picker
Using a RNN that makes up plausible names based on a training set of actual colors.

I kinda hope that was a genuinely curious question and not an arrogant rhetoric one.

welpwelp··on Most Vegetarians and Vegans Eventually Return to Meat
I was also looking for a mention of such a statistic.

I have been vegetarian for 2+ years, occasionally cheat with sea food, but the idea of eating animal flesh grosses me out and i don't think I'll ever turn back.

welpwelp··on Most Vegetarians and Vegans Eventually Return to Meat
Me and my friends also go to McDonald's Friends, where we regularly enjoy Big Mac eating contests. Maybe we'll meet there someday.
welpwelp··on Grid Garden – A game for learning CSS grid
Is this like a built-in equivalent of Skeleton and similar frameworks? It's kinda cool the way it brings CSS closer to frameworks like iOS', which has built-in UI components like collection views and such that can be extended to build interfaces easily.
welpwelp··on Show HN: First startup – A matching game based on your interests and location
The design is throwing me off a little. It looks like a 2005 website trying to look like 2016.

Just my personal opinion of course, but these seem more modern for example. They're also built with Bootstrap. https://colorlib.com/wp/best-bootstrap-wordpress-themes/

http://dribbble.com also has some nice examples.

Good job though, keep it going!

welpwelp··on Whiteboard sticker for your laptop
I agreed but these are different mediums. With paper you can't erase obviously, so you use significantly more space when free scratching. Hence the usefulness of the whiteboard.

On a different note, notebooks are great. I converted my wallet into thin Moleskine notebooks that fit in my pocket super easily. I put my cards and bills in it. And I always have a pen in me. Archival pens are great. It's good for doodling too :>

welpwelp··on Ask HN: Leaving my job to boostrap my projects. Advice?
I see, thank you. This is another reason why quitting my job makes this easier.
welpwelp··on Ask HN: Leaving my job to boostrap my projects. Advice?
I'm actually spending a few days to build tools to validate an idea, and not building even an MVP yet. Thank you for your feedback!
welpwelp··on Ask HN: Leaving my job to boostrap my projects. Advice?
Thank you for your comment!

I like your mindset and this is the one I try to have. The tools I mentioned are the ones I use best. Like you said, the choice of tools does not concern me as much as validating my idea and getting to revenue. I'll keep in mind your advice about marketing.

I hope everything is well for you at Scalus!

welpwelp··on Ask HN: Leaving my job to boostrap my projects. Advice?
Thank you Pieter!

I feel honored by your reply : )

I unfortunately do not have any previous project to bankroll from, but this will be the first one!

The stack I mentioned is the one I use best, which is why I picked it.

Fortunately, I have been doing iOS development for the past ~5 years.

I'm going to validate my idea and move forward to a simple MVP if it works.

It all feels very uncertain but I'm going with the flow and will see what happens!

welpwelp··on Ask HN: Leaving my job to boostrap my projects. Advice?
Agreed, I've done that too before : )
welpwelp··on Ask HN: Leaving my job to boostrap my projects. Advice?
Thanks! No JS framework. I usually use postgres, I'll scale on Heroku, and I have a few years of Django experience. No devops experience with very large userbases, but my initial goal is just to get a few users.
welpwelp··on Ask HN: Leaving my job to boostrap my projects. Advice?
Thank you! It seems from all the feedback that I'm significantly against the odds, but I really want to give it a shot.
welpwelp··on Ask HN: Leaving my job to boostrap my projects. Advice?
I love it, thank you!

welpwelp··on Ask HN: Leaving my job to boostrap my projects. Advice?
Thank you for your reply! I have tried to keep my job, but working a 10am/7pm job with a 90mn commute everyday left me with only the weekends to work on something else. Also it's become harder and harder to get up everyday to spend the day working on something that does not wholeheartedly passionates me. Hence the decision to quit.
