> For an org

Or not…

weikju··on Fuck Android Developer Verification Program
> Alternative are having applications in 2026 that use POSIX like in UNIX System V, or Win32 like in Windows 95/NT 3.51.

If only……

weikju··on Telling a Computer to Do Things
Nice article about actually learning stuff and putting this knowledge to use together. Not with AI but with one’s own brain.
weikju··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
Orion also does it right.

Every other browser aren’t using macOS native UI therefore are wrong in this environment. But right on their own in being the same everywhere.

Rather than being smug, I’ll say awesome! The best time to start using Firefox is yesterday. The second best time is now.

IOW:

Don’t threaten to stop using Google Chrome if they do one more evil thing. Start now.

Tab close buttons are on the right (windows style) instead of on the left (macOS style), for one.
weikju··on Minimal Phone 2
They might have been unable to do it due to Claude Code’s training.
weikju··on Alternatives to MinIO for single-node local S3
Nice!
weikju··on Alternatives to MinIO for single-node local S3
Isn’t that just minio? At least in LXD it’s minio.
weikju··on Tether: iMessage, SMS, etc. on Linux
Hmm yeah I guess I addressed the goal and not the specific thing you mentioned. Oops.
weikju··on Tether: iMessage, SMS, etc. on Linux
It exists:

weikju··on Nvidia agrees to acquire Hugging Face for $13B
Disingenuous quote. Missing the full “open source AI” phrasing.
weikju··on Qwen3.8-Max: A New Bar for Coding and Cowork
We are in the golden period where this IS possible. Once it becomes the norm to "do something else while your agent works", we'll be asked to do more WORK while the agent works, rather than do hobbies/housework/nap/etc.
weikju··on Running Kimi K3 on a M1 Max
Supposedly RDMA over Thunderbolt 5 can allow this.
weikju··on Neutrino-1 8B
I just tune out. It’s not worth knowing, following every development in the field. If something works now it will probably work in 8 months even if it’s no longer the new hype thing. Who cares.

Not using any of it is also a valid option though it doesn’t satisfy your FOMO. But nothing ever will.

weikju··on Forth
My brain tells me Yoda speak would likely be: love Forth, I do.

But then he would also say: Forth is the path to the Light Side…

weikju··on Mac gaming is finally getting the overpowered upgrade it deserves
An on-board GPU is not a GPU?
weikju··on Mawlynnong, India, transformed by tourism, bans visitors on Sundays
Does that Declaration give you an inalienable right to do anything you please? I doubt it. As the old saying goes, your freedom stops where someone else’s freedom starts.

Or in Seinfeld speak, “we live in a society!!!”

Have to consider others not just oneself. That’s the price of freedom and being responsible about it.

The alternative is a nanny state or anarchy.

weikju··on Sam Neill has died
Aside from Jurassic Park and the other roles mentioned, I also liked his role in the Merlin TV two part movies. Now I need to rewatch both…
weikju··on Old and new apps, via modern coding agents
> It’s kind of like saying wedding photographers will be impacted because of the people posting on r/iPhoneography. Seems kind of silly doesn’t it.

I don’t know how it is all around the world but where I live, the photography is part of the whole packaged wedding plan and there’s no choice/option BUT to use one, guaranteeing their (expensive) service and job, regardless of what people can produce on their own.

OTOH, it’s probably better to have someone neutral there who can take pics rather than eat/drink/cry and whatever else people do at weddings ;)

weikju··on AI-generated videos to maximally drive a target brain region
That’s what someone would say if they were brainwashed by them!!!

Half joking, half paranoid.

weikju··on AI-generated videos to maximally drive a target brain region
Am I the only one who is avoiding even clicking the link just in case?
weikju··on Small AI Models Gain Traction In places with unreliable networks
> If you do carry it to an enclave of civilization that has the right power, are they going to let you run it when it cuts into light for surgeons or heat to sterilize water?

Knowing humans? They'd probably take it by force and run it for themselves instead of providing light and heat to surgeons and water sterilizers...

/daily dose of cynism

weikju··on CloudsLinker: Move and sync files across 50 cloud services
Without using local bandwidth… they swear they don’t keep anything (but they have a cache).

Meh

weikju··on Android Developer Verification: Threat masquerading as protection
> In almost every case, the feared "bottom" of the slope was never reached because humans constantly built ramps or bridges along the way.

Perhaps it happens because the slope is called out...

weikju··on Global review confirms mRNA vaccines are safe, effective and full of promise
Just a much narrower definition of humanity than what we’re thinking.
weikju··on Nintendo has raised its employees base salary by 10%
> but neither have rents or prices for common goods.

All the price increases over the last few years disagree.

weikju··on Asahi Linux 7.1 Progress Report
You can still run Arch, and Ubuntu Asahi also exists. (1)

They’re working hard on upstreaming everything exactly so it’s easier for any distribution to be ported.

weikju··on Redeploying Fable 5
That won’t get you access to Fable for long, it’ll be billed as extra usage soon.
