wdiamond··on Why only fools write code first
Suppose you know everything, why would bother to help others? with altruism(a fool?), or for money(a poor?). Suppose you know nothing. Could you sell what you don't know? And if it sells what would you deliver? I believe if you are good enough you won't waste too much money selling.
wdiamond··on ‘Altered Carbon’ Canceled After Two Seasons at Netflix
want an idea for a tv show? and if in the future, where souls live forever in matrix, in peaceful matrix where everybody is a king or a queen with unlimited slave npcs; and only mech bodies exists outside matrix, those machines do find a way to communicate with an alien high-tech civilization, but the latch is around 1 year. will do the kings and queens get to work on the problem and start to vanish heaven?
wdiamond··on OS13k – A Tiny Web Based OS and Game Engine
nice work, but I don't like compressed programming style. hard to maintain.
wdiamond··on Ask HN: Would you mentor a beginner dev?
sounds like the writer becoming the typist and the typist getting famous as writer.
wdiamond··on Ask HN: What's stopping OEMs from building an all-in-one device?
all-in-one is a brand. there is no real all-in-one.
wdiamond··on Ask HN: What's stopping OEMs from building an all-in-one device?
there is no rush to kill play store or apple store. ms could relaunch a windows phone but ms do not want to waste in consumer hardware, it's better to them invest on other types of "OS's" like github, azure, xboxlive, which are also virtual markets. the question that remain, can Intel make a x86 phone? I guess it depends energy research.
wdiamond··on Node input function is broken
you are saying that everything was from async to sync. not everybody agree. btw you can write a sync if you want. and node is not a language, neither javascript, the language name is ecmascript. the problem is yours, save your own utils, if lowcode is what you want you don't have to code.
wdiamond··on Ask HN: Does Passion ever come back?
See something awesome and long run for It.
wdiamond··on Ask HN: How to quickly switch to a programming lang that you won't code often?
The easier you learn the wastefull it is. I mean, brainfuck language can be more usefull than another c style programming language. stick to meanings not syntaxes.
wdiamond··on How can i create a 3D physics based game?
try start with this: https://github.com/bulletphysics/bullet3 there are others. google it. to perfect physics you must understand the real math of physics, but it probably won't fit in a game. game physics libraries are subsets of real physics.
wdiamond··on Jinx: Simple Embeddable Scripting Language
I loved the syntax, but I do prefer automatic gc. I also have some ideas for classes in this schema. something like

class Big Car extends Car, Chassi and Engine :{

    move {THIS} {attrib} by {offset} :{

        set {THIS} [attrib] to offset

    }

}

set car to new Big Car

move car x by 10

i dont like begin and end style

wdiamond··on Is Cryptocurrency a New World Order?
neither. it's a prototype. can't scale yet. nor its endorsed by govs. a prototype car usually don't have seat belts. and you need gov to take care of roads.
wdiamond··on Ask HN: What's the most underrated programming language?
javascript too pop to be noticed.
wdiamond··on Ask HN: I made a ridiculous amount of money and feel “depressed”
Recursive, you have everything you want. but if you have, how the hell you want? to have and to want will never be the same, cause to want is to work for a new objective. and to have is to rest by the previous objective completed.

if you dont want to go to "the moon" maybe you dont want anything more. just to rest.

wdiamond··on Why we never thank open source maintainers
I recommend to keep open source, but not to clear issues related to other people infrastructure, just about your own infrastructure.
wdiamond··on Why we never thank open source maintainers
I recommend to keep open source, but not clear issues not related to your own infrastructure.
wdiamond··on Ask HN: What would you change about JavaScript if you could?
I wish javascript could handle operator overload. not only basic operator, also any custom. something like: objectClass.prototype.operator like = function(a,b) {...} objectClass3 = objectClass1 like objectClass2; Object.defineOperator(objectClass.prototype,"like",{ priority: 10, type: "binary", callback : function(a,b) { ... } });
wdiamond··on Ask HN: You privately received $24M. What would you do?
a medice college, with brain specialization, then invest on human-computer interface(but wisely and slowly), it requires experience that no one has(one might call but it is not experience when you cannot write a undergraduate textbook).
wdiamond··on Ask HN: What do you do before you start writing code?
there are no such thing of waste of time, except when you delete code. if you have a basic design that code can be used for prototypes. if you have a complex design that code will take your time to handle complex. but if you can't handle all the code you ever write, so the problem is not the code, then you might organize your global assets in a way you can remember how they are organized. but if you are talking about achieving faster your goals then you don't need to code you need lots of people coding and people that can manage a developer team.
wdiamond··on Why Python Is Not My Favorite Language (2016)
just go c and javascript. or javascript and c. some prefer lua and c, or c and lua.
wdiamond··on Ask HN: What video game elements do you wish you could use to motivate you IRL?
IRL you can't link objective complete to rewards automatically, it requires human eval. which is too expensive.
wdiamond··on Ask HN: Want to sell your side project?
What are you looking for?
wdiamond··on Ask HN: What is the skillset for programmers at AI startups?
if that was ironic, I would tell that some people need money but don't need to share implementations.
wdiamond··on Ask HN: What is the skillset for programmers at AI startups?
pay me 1000 bucks for that information. 2000 bucks for more.
