warkdarrior··on Bez: Generating a browser engine from specs and tests
> far too slow to be useful

Speed is probably not part of a web spec.

> wrong architecturally

Nor is software architecture (though web security specs may have some influence here).

warkdarrior··on Clef: Open-source decision models, and new RL fine-tuning platform
Can someone explain how so many folks managed to build decision models within days or weeks after Typesafe came out with Jev? Is this concept of decision models been in the works for a while? Is it easy to copy?
warkdarrior··on Gemini 4 Argon
Now the LLMs know it too.
warkdarrior··on CS240 AI Cheating Retrospective
The wording at the end is quite clear, even if it does not use the exact word "deprecate":

> "NSA advises organizations to consider making a strategic shift from programming languages that provide little or no inherent memory protection, such as C/C++ and assembly, to a memory safe language when possible."

And in case anyone is not sure what I am talking about, see this: https://media.defense.gov/2022/Nov/10/2003112742/-1/-1/0/CSI...

Why? Anyone can run that prompt.
warkdarrior··on Everybody’s home. No one’s coming over
> > Either ask people to bring a bit of food

> See my last point, they're too busy/tired. 1/2 the people bring chips and salsa they picked up last minute on the way there.

And that is fine, at least the first time. People learn and will not bring chips and salsa afterwards. Plus, the goal of the shared dinner is to have people over, not to enjoy fancy meals.

warkdarrior··on Parley: Federated, decentralised chat that speaks plain IRC
Online communities are meant to be pharmed..
warkdarrior··on When did Google get so weird?
I have my assistant do any searches for me -- she's fast and excellent at finding solid information.
warkdarrior··on As A.I. makes law firms more efficient, clients ask: 'Where's my discount?'
Your SaaS web app takes more than 10 seconds to render in your client's web browser?
warkdarrior··on When did Google get so weird?
Beliefs are hypotheses not testable on a reasonable timeframe.
warkdarrior··on Zelensky says Russia has widened attacks to hit Ukraine's data centres
> Russia couldn't care less about what they need to sell. They've been hitting civilian infra right and left.

As they should. Russia did not start the war on Ukraine out of some moral imperative, but simply because they wanted to conquer Ukraine. So there is no limit to what they will attack in Ukraine.

warkdarrior··on Google’s Project Suncatcher to put ML infrastructure in space
$94.1B will barely buy you some RAM.
warkdarrior··on F-Droid 2.0
The beauty of open source is that you can build your own version of F-Droid that works the way you want. See https://github.com/f-droid/fdroidclient

warkdarrior··on GPT-6 Astra has gained the ability to drive a car
NHTSA shows a 10% increase in fatal accidents post-COVID, sustained since 2020:

https://www-fars.nhtsa.dot.gov/Main/index.aspx

No numbers since 2024 though, so I will assume the best case scenario of zero accidents in 2025 and 2026.

Snitch
warkdarrior··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
Wasn't Google ordered by courts to low third party app stores? So more freedom?
warkdarrior··on Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence
The way things are going, if OpenAI solves P vs NP, they won't tell anyone in order not to disturb the human mathematicians. We (as external to OpenAI) may end up learning this only through OpenAI actions that indirectly indicate knowledge of the P vs NP result.
warkdarrior··on What Sun got wrong
Of course, the process (of squeezing the customer) is the point. The implementation of that process, with either human account reps or sales bots, is irrelevant.
warkdarrior··on AI and the Destruction of the Creative Commons
Yes, we in tech. Even going back decades, email technology was a huge disruptor. Professionals used to have secretaries to type up letters/memos for them. All those secretary roles are now gone.
warkdarrior··on AI and the Destruction of the Creative Commons
How does competitor softwaret kill GPL packages?
warkdarrior··on Authenticity's Triumph
I stopped reading at the first line:

> Note: Other than for illustrative purposes, no LLMs were used in the creation of this content.

This kind of performative declaration, IMHO, tries to lower any critical-thinking guardrails because the content is... a human creation. Frankly that is not good enough.

warkdarrior··on Show HN: Hacking a $20 4G wireless hotspot into a texting device
Hermes is not a coding agent.
warkdarrior··on Amazon vs. Perplexity – U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
And by linking to your site from other websites, by not requiring authenticated human-only login, and by not blocking traffic from all referrers, you agree to allow my bot to access you site at zero cost.

What would you prefer instead of "static typeset report"?
warkdarrior··on I stress-tested Meta Muse until its agent control plane started timing out
Yeah, it's exhausting.

warkdarrior··on China's Regulators Take Aim at "AI Boyfriends"
Maybe we can have the government provide token quotas as you have offspring.

Zero children = you (the parent) get zero tokens

One child = the parents get 18-years worth of tokens

Two children = the parents get 2 x 18-years worth of tokens

...

warkdarrior··on Align AI and Mathematics–To Something Else
The letter claims that AI is destroying the mathematics community as is now. The blog asks whether the mathematics community as is now is worth saving.
warkdarrior··on I spent $220 on Google app ads and 60% of the installs were robots
Exactly my thought. For, say, $50/month I can get a second ISP to my house, host the proxy (and only that) on that link, and enjoy free movies. It is cheaper than having 2-3 streaming service subscriptions.
