w8vY7ER··on Maine Governor Signs Strictest Internet Protections in the U.S.
"Deal with it" seems like an awfully shallow and short-sighted suggestion for those concerned with their privacy. Could you elaborate?
w8vY7ER··on Tesla boom lifts Norway's electric car sales to record market share
I've been siting in one for the past 18 months and 16,000 miles. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you that you're completely wrong here!

Ah, yes, experts.
w8vY7ER··on Astronomy group calls for urgent action on SpaceX Starlink satellites
For my part, I wouldn't put it past the minds that land orbital class, first stage rockets on the regular to come up with something that surprises us. Not suggesting that's a meaningful strategy for ensuring dark skies, just pointing out they've surprised us more than once!
w8vY7ER··on Astronomy group calls for urgent action on SpaceX Starlink satellites
While I share the community's concern for preserving the dark skies wherever possible, is it not premature considering _none_ of the 60 satellites launched have yet to reach their destination altitude?
w8vY7ER··on Taiwan's digital minister on combatting disinformation without censorship
I sure believe so :)
w8vY7ER··on Taiwan's digital minister on combatting disinformation without censorship
I would posit that this differs _significantly_ as it's being done with transparency and the motives for it are being clearly expressed by those pursuing the efforts. This stands in stark contrast to the assumed and obviously nefarious motives of those responsible for the disinformation. What better approach, I wonder?
w8vY7ER··on Taiwan's digital minister on combatting disinformation without censorship
My experiences visiting various Taiwanese cities were so positive- can't wait to return.

This is well articulated and reflects my current feelings as a customer.
w8vY7ER··on ProtonMail Voluntarily Offers Assistance for Real-Time Surveillance?
In the same boat and now actively considering just self-hosting as these threads will so often advocate for. What a pain.
w8vY7ER··on Apple tried to buy Tesla for more than it’s currently worth in 2013, report says
Thanks, this was news to me. Appreciate the insight

e: in hindsight your comment about 40mm gaps, as an example, does some particularly crazy and I'm surprised it didn't stand out to me.

w8vY7ER··on Apple tried to buy Tesla for more than it’s currently worth in 2013, report says
I have enjoyed his writing so far and haven't found reason to question his fact checking yet. Can you offer any example for someone curious about the sketchiness you mentioned?
w8vY7ER··on Tesla’s Autopilot was engaged when Model 3 crashed into truck, report states

w8vY7ER··on Fukushima: Removal of nuclear fuel rods from damaged reactor building begins

w8vY7ER··on Big Companies Thought Insurance Covered a Cyberattack
auto-pilot requires the driver to be in the vehicle, i'm guessing this was the summon feature activated from their app? what a complete waste

w8vY7ER··on Tesla to achieve leading $100/kWh battery cell cost this year, says investor
...who also happened to have just visited for an on-site tour that provided them with a unique perspective, conceivably? Spin works both ways here it seems what's with the apoplexy over an editor citing the fund's blog
w8vY7ER··on Tesla to achieve leading $100/kWh battery cell cost this year, says investor
Agreed, deeply grateful for Fred's diligent reporting on these topics. Usually has the scoop first and is good about highlighting negative aspects as well without the institutional fire and brimstone everyone else comes with.
w8vY7ER··on Mercedes Readies First Tesla Rival in $12B Attack
Just out of curiosity, what have you seen from GM in their EV program to date that gives you that impression? I look at their efforts and see the absolute minimum and a complete lack of compelling vision or differentiating features.
