Yes, I thought the same when I was new.
Unless this scummy manufacturer also works with the aircon makers to lock those to their controllers. (That would be a great lawsuit to watch.)
I have an old VPS that isn't worth trying to update to a newer OS image, because I'm already (slowly) migrating things off of it before the current paid-up term expires, but it definitely won't get the newer glibc. Disabling the vulnerable character encoding works for me, since no legitimate user of the server will need these conversion pairs.
The tiniest consolation is that the revised TOS doesn't apply until subscription renewal for paying customers, which is pretty much the bare minimum "ethical terms change" approach I can think of.
Date stamp is part of the metadata passed into the generator, according to https://neugierig.org/software/blog/2022/10/blog-software.ht..., but I don't see anywhere that the Go code checks whether a post's date is in the future. Did you intend to add a post-scheduling feature but haven't gotten to it?
- $55/mo. 3 Mbps DSL
- $80/mo. 300 Mbps cable (or even more expensive, faster cable)
- $120/mo. 100+ Mbps (if you're lucky) Starlink
- A few other heavily restricted, very expensive satellite options (e.g. HughesNet), to which the aforementioned fleet of ill-trained carrier pigeons might be preferable
Only one of those is practical and (mostly) reliable for anything remotely approaching something like remote work.
Back home it's such a luxury to be able to choose DSL, cable, or fiber. I can only dream that all markets will have an actual choice between Internet service providers someday.
I can take advantage of how low streaming payouts are, I guess? It's almost like refusing to buy their stuff.
Meanwhile, what have they done to catch and ban malicious actors who passed verification long ago and have been abusing other services on the internet from the safety of Hetzner's network for months or years?
Wary of Render is what you (and I) should be.
At any rate, I continue to be unamused by how difficult it is for normal people to service their own Apple devices.
My phone doesn't support the bands necessary for VZ service, but it was worth trying.
Maybe building chatbots as a layer beneath the existing virtual assistant platforms would be a viable user experience, and I'm sure there are people who would use them—but how many? I'd be interested in statistics on how many smartphone users actually use the voice assistant for more than a couple simple questions once or twice a month.
Quick research says that license plate covers are "Allowed" in just 16/50 states, though I have no idea how accurate the source is and it also says that the "Allowed" designation "only" means that that that state requires license plates to be easily readable. (One of the table rows is "Arizona: Arizona | Arizona", so perhaps it's not very accurate.)
Still, regardless of how reliable the sources I found are, I'd be shocked to find many states that don't have prohibitions on making it difficult for red-light/speed/ALPR cameras to read plates.
