"If you’re not part of the intended audience and are very very mad that a stranger on the Internet has a different opinion than you, I encourage you to direct your energy into an alternative argument that a young person might benefit from reading."
Somebody comes out with an idea to drastically transform the way that we consume food + the top comment, at the time, was about one small detail in his vid.
Is it wrong to ridicule that kind of comment?
I thought I didn't have any issues with gluten until I stopped eating it for a month. Now if I eat gluten I get a headache almost immediately afterwards.
Overwhelmingly I've been amazed to see that most people seem to have no regard whatsoever for their nutrition. Things go into their body but it often has 0 nutricional value.
Also - it's actually really really hard to eat well. Since so many restaurants cater to what people are familiar with, there's next to no alternative for people trying to eat nutritious food.
Take Montreal, Canada: Half of the population there says goodbye via two air kisses, half hug, then you got the formal handshakes into the mix. Nobody announces what they're doing when they go in, so it's not uncommon to get the hug + two air kisses, which feels a little sexual to me.
To add to the complexity, you have people of different cultures in the city. Arab men for example kiss on the cheek but don't kiss the women. So you need to size a person's culture, sex + the level of the relationship up whenever saying hello or goodbye to people.
A solution like this would have kept a good chunk of all the famous immigrant entrepreneurs from ever coming to the US.
Some people are visionaries and spend their days trying to connect the the dots that other people haven't yet connected to push the boundaries. Steve Jobs was like this.
Most developers are implementers. Since developers spend their days working through the details of any particular spec, they think of the details much more than the visionaries. Woz was like this.
Both types of people are crucial for any product to be a success and both types can really help each other in crafting something up if they would both listen to each other.
Unfortunately this rarely happens...
For those of us who don't have ipads I would love the ability to custom send hand written cards from the web. I'd be fine with even somebody else writing them.
The challenging things about all these accounts is that not only in public did he seem like an idiot but the decisions that he made in office were similarly inept.
To cite a few: - Spending increases while incurring tax cuts - The Iraq War + the willful deceiving of the public - The lack of remorse of any decision made in office
Malcolm Gladwell cites that (in life) the people who really excel aren't just the ones who are the most intelligent but the ones who posses other factors as well which make them a success. Perhaps this provides some of the explanation for the discrepancy between the personal accounts and the actions of his administration.
Check out the bug tracking system on their developer portal, there are tons of bugs which they just ignore.
They were: - Referrals (27%) - word of mouth (24%) - Personal and professional networks (17%)
It's unfortunate that the Obama administration won't separate these two kinds of immigrants since they fear in doing so, they won't be able to get comprehensive immigration reform passed.
Other countries recognize the value of highly educated immigrants who want to create companies. Canada, for example, just announced it's startup visa specifically targeting immigrants who want to move to the country to start a company.

Anyone know why Lanyrd doesn't have more traction? For any given conference, I find that it's rare for more than 10% to signal that they are going to the conference.
The PR read that Yahoo is acquiring a company but shutting down its product and getting only 2 of their engineers for 30 million dollars. PR like that gets Yahoo's name in the press but does nothing to improve the image that Yahoo has no idea what it's doing.
If the real story is that Yahoo bought the technology to summarize articles from SRI International, who partly owned Summly -> why did Summly's owners make 30 million?
All my friends seem to be using Facebook less and less and this seems to be another way to lock me into Facebook's ecosystem. While they could easily allow you to contact your friends in all the ways which you normally communicate with them - SMS, Email, Phone, the only thing they integrated in was Facebook messages.
By making this, they are basically saying that people want something in their hand which provides them random information they can swipe to. People want this random info soo sooo much, they we've made it the home screen + doing anything in apps is the exception.
About press - you need to pitch people. Start with smaller blogs and work your way up from there. Guess reporter's email addresses and try to find a way in by being helpful first.
That's how I got my first customers for http://www.artsumo.com.
