vnce··on Thanks HN for 15 years of support and helping me find my life's work
I just love that this exists. Learning about it for the first time here, it was such a joy reading the website, watching the videos and understanding the school’s philosophy. Even how they define what a successful applicant looks like, and commitment to diversity brought a smile to my face. Maybe one day…
vnce··on Citing 'severe' math deficits, UC faculty demand a return to SAT tests for STEM
Yes and I standby genxy’s comment. It was always a question of motivation, not ability.

effin' a :)
vnce··on Calculus Made Easy
I’m a product manager and I use the concepts to read and understand new algos, research papers, etc. you’re right that you won’t be calculating (that builds problem solving) but grasping the principles will help you proceed to more advanced concepts in other fields

Good luck you’ll get there.

vnce··on The GPT Store
Really like this idea! Is it only shared by link? Couldn’t find it in the store.
vnce··on Defining the ’90s Music Canon
God I miss this. Thanks for reminding me :)
vnce··on Y Combinator W2011 application (my rejection email)
I really like the way the this letter is crafted. It's sensitive to the founders, and is upfront about the reality: there are more promising groups than available spots. I'm struck not only by YC's admission that they will invariably miss good groups, but that they'd like to keep in touch to learn from their mistakes.

You certainly don't see that humility everyday from institutions of any size. Other organizations should take note. A personal tone goes a long way.
