vld··on Ask HN: What small webapps do you know that have a large audience?
http://ip-api.com/ ~400m requests/month
vld··on Show HN: A simple IP address API
curl $(</dev/urandom tr -dc a-z|head -c32).mydns.re
vld··on Show HN: A simple IP address API
http://ip-api.com/ is also a nice alternative, with JSON, CSV, XML, and others.
vld··on Easter egg: Up up down down left right left right b a

vld··on Password Hijacking Security Incident and Response
It is very pleasing to see companies like heroku publicly thanking (we even got a blog link here) the security researcher that initially reported a vulnerability. Hopefully, we'll see more of this in the future.
vld··on Show HN: Bubbles - my unfinished HTML5 Particle Game
This needs gravity-like behavior!
vld··on A quite handy tool for online base64 encoding and decoding
Why is the encoding/decoding done on the server side? You can easily do it with javascript, and fallback to normal <form> post if JS is disabled.
vld··on The lightbulb reinvented
http://amzn.com/B006RJRBY6 - a similar product, but not so smart. I guess you could hook some IR blasters to a WiFi-enabled device (eg: OpenWRT router) and write software that replicates the same functionality.
vld··on Show HN: Hasher - Developer's toolbox for Chrome
Good job, I love it! A suggestion: add some network aware features, like GeoIP, IP/domain whois, etc. They'd have to call some external API's, but they'd fit right in.
vld··on Matasano Security acquired for £8.4m ($13m) - Congrats tptacek
Congratulations! Will you still be directly involved?
vld··on In a CDN'd world, OpenDNS is the enemy
This article is from 2010, back when the edns-client-subnet [1] draft wasn't even published. I believe most CDN's are now whitelisted with Google's and OpenDNS's edns list, so you'll much better results. also see edns-client-subnet demo [2]

vld··on Show HN: Gridspot, 10x cheaper cloud compute using distributed computing
Wow, really, six figures? 250 results for "gridspot.com" on google, and yet you have 100000+ computers running this software? I want to hire you! I'll pay you 10 figures/month!
vld··on Show HN: We made an addictive way to browse pictures on reddit
Make this for 9gag! Please.
vld··on Hopper: Stop emailing yourself notes, files, and images
And yet another chrome-only website.
vld··on Please Poach Me
It seems they put <a> inside of <button>, when it should be the other way (<button> inside <a>)
vld··on Please Poach Me
Good. Now set DEBUG = False in your Django settings file. Seriously. You know, private keys and stuff. For, you know, important stuff like stripe.
vld··on Please Poach Me
Great idea, bad name however. Also, might I suggest SSL for the "enter your credit card number" part?
vld··on Command line tools for web developers
also useful:

wget post-file.it --post-file /path/to/file
