vladimir··on Say goodbye to search analytics
I didn't know that. Thank you so much.
vladimir··on Say goodbye to search analytics
I don't think ISP cannot see what I'm searching for if Google allows me to use HTTPS. When we use HTTPS, data is encrypted. But URLs I'm querying are still open for anyone. If someone knows that I queried, for example, http://www.google.co.uz/?q=google, it's pretty easy to understand what I've been searching for.
vladimir··on Say goodbye to search analytics
True. But I think in this situation no one except Google will be happy (and I doubt they'll be happy too). Web analytics helps webmasters make their sites more attractive for end users. I use Google Analytics on most of my sites, but I don't like the way how Google tries to "encourage" others to do it.
vladimir··on Say goodbye to search analytics
To be honest, I don't understand how using HTTPS in Google search will help users to browse web more securely. I am not going to use this feature. The bad thing is that lots of non-technical users who care about security and privacy will use it, and they'll get an illusion that their web surfing has become more secure.
vladimir··on The Way I Work: Matt Mullenweg
What does "bubble lifestyle" mean?
vladimir··on Ask HN: Is it necessary to learn maths to enter into programming?
I think you don't need to learn maths to enter into programming. I am a web developer for more than 1.5 years, and I don't need maths at all.
vladimir··on My Favorite Bug
For me, there are two types of bugs: bugs that can teach you something and random bugs. I love the first type - these are bugs that make me read and learn something.
vladimir··on jQuery Chart Plugins For Your App
I think using Google Chart API is much better than using these plugins. Lots of chart types, easy to make, gives high-quality result, and support all browsers that can display images.
vladimir··on Why is enterprise software so bad?
1. Development process is led by managers, not developers. 2. Developers frequently work under time / budget pressure. 3. Money is the only stimulus, so the developers try to make software good enough to get paid. 4. Big companies try to make something big.
vladimir··on The Economics of Time and Effort and OpenSource
When we talk about software development, it's easy to spread the value created by the community to all people. What about other spheres of economy (agriculture, for example), it's much more difficult.
vladimir··on Hacking the planet: The only climate solution left?
The nature was forming for millions of years, and I don't think humans are smart enough to hack it, sometimes we are not able to hack computers that we have invented. This climate change is because of attempts to hack the planet. I am not against the progress, but when we interfere in the nature, we should think more than twice.
vladimir··on Impossible is a step
Succes is 99 % of fail and 1% of your efforts.
vladimir··on Aurora: Class types and invariants in JavaScript
I think it would be better to take advantage of JavaScript's flexibility instead of trying to make Java on steroids of this language. People began to use dynamic types to speed up development and make it more flexible. But I agree that sometimes we have to check variable types in JS, so this library can help. But for me these cases are rare.
vladimir··on Why the Japanese Hate the iPhone
The question is: should we adapt technology according to national characteristics, Technology seems to make cultural borders disappear, but sometimes these borders are very strong.
vladimir··on One Thing You Don't Need To Be An Entrepreneur: A College Degree
Of course, every system of education does not encourage characteristics of good enterpreneurs - independence and thinking differently. They are crerated to produce good workers - those people who will work for enterpreneurs. And I don't think this atricle encourages people to drop out of college - those who have bravity to do this will do it anyway, and others will finish grad school.
vladimir··on Ask HN: easy resources for learning Python?
I think Python documentation is a great resource for learning it.
vladimir··on [dead]
I agree with you. Thanks for advice
vladimir··on Ask HN: please review our online load testing service - loadimpact.com
Of course you should permit to run such tests only if you are sure you are dealing with site owners or their representatives. You can use the system that is used in Google webmasters tools - users can confirm their ownership by adding specific document or meta-tag. Also - registration system's usability is not perfect. But the idea is great - I would use this service.
vladimir··on The other half of "Artists Ship"
Yes, startups make their job better than big companies. But I think that it is a part of a more general rule: people work productively in OPEN systems, and the open systems themselves encourage working hard. Open source projects are developed more rapidly, because it is hard to imagine the system which is more open. Both users and developers control the system, and every user can become a developer. In startups we have a limited number of people who can control the process of development, but they still controll it. In other words, the system is open for founders and employees. Big companies work unefficiently because they are too closed, and a great number of checks is only a part of it.

vladimir··on When hi-tech is too-much-tech
I think technologies would be much more cheaper if companies didn't implement such redundant features.
vladimir··on Please review my web application
As I understood, you could not register. But I really don't know what is your problem, because other users work with application without trouble. Please tell me what browser do you use if it is not difficult for you
vladimir··on Let's End Adolescence
I think if going to school will be money-making profession, it will encourage corruption in the system of education.
vladimir··on Tools for rapid prototyping: a webapp in 1 week
I agree that jQuery is a perfect tool for JavaScript programming. And I loved JavaScript after I learned this simple and powerful library.
vladimir··on Please review my web application
Please don't worry. I don't want to use your personal information. I just want to know your opinion about my application.
vladimir··on Please review my web application
You should probably enable JavaScript in your browswer in or der to use application
