vladiim··on Photos capture the breathtaking scale of China's wind and solar buildout
I like Musk's lens: the sun is 99.8% of the galaxy's total mass and over 99.99% of its energy production. Pretty straight-forward where you want to be getting your energy from.
vladiim··on Inside The Internet Archive's Infrastructure
How long will it take for them to send the PetaBox to space?
vladiim··on Ask HN: Your Code Reading List?
I've been spending some time with Jeff Atwood's Discourse* lately. Meaty new concepts and taught me a lot.

Ruby on Rails + Emberjs. Nice to see how they've integrated the two technologies and how some of the decisions they've are very different from the Ruby community at large (SQL queries over Active Record pattern, data serializers etc).

vladiim··on I have 6.000.000 RSS articles in a DB. What can I do?

vladiim··on DHH's journey to Le Mans
He's basically becoming Bruce Wayne

vladiim··on This is the way Facebook ends
Nothing is forever. Facebook did great and will be around for many years to come but history strongly suggests that it will go the way of AOL, Yahoo, Microsoft etc.
vladiim··on The Real Problem with Facebook
History repeating itself, Facebook will go the way of AOL and Yahoo. The real winners are the future entrepreneurs who will receive funding from the thousand odd millionaires this has made
vladiim··on Goldman to dump Facebook shares on IPO
The people who will make money of Facebook going public are making it right now... The idea of having shares in Facebook scares the bejeezus out of me
vladiim··on A/B testing with Jekyll (and Google Analytics)

Have you played around with some of the Rack based gems out there like Split?

vladiim··on Don't not learn how to code
Agreed, I'm kinda surprised so many people are talking about it. You might as well write a series on whether to be religious or not... nobody's business but yours.
vladiim··on 2012 Salary Guide for Creative and Technology Professionals [pdf]
It would be interesting to show the salaries as a ratio of average cost of living and then compare it to Madison Ave salaries in the 80's... my bet is average has gone dowwwwwwwn.
vladiim··on Can an Algorithm Write a Better News Story Than a Human Reporter?
Algorithms are certainly good at finding patterns in large data-sets, couple this with some talented writing at a high level and you may have a news service of the future.
vladiim··on Rate my name
Testicle - it just leaps out of this name -1 I'm afraid
vladiim··on The Unavoidable Hack
Insightful article and really well written.

I guess the closest you can come is: - having people around you who have similar standards - a culture of constantly questioning everything - a business unit that understands the importance of overcoming tech debt

vladiim··on Color had 5 photos posted at WWDC this morning
It's not a nail int the coffin by any means but you would think it would make strategic sense for them to be making a concerted effort to get people using their service at a conference like WWDC ala Twitter/Foursquare... big missed opportunity to get influential people using their service.
