This. I recently moved to localForage[1] and have been mostly satisfied so far. Thanks Mozilla!

vivab0rg··on Using Ansible Galaxy
Ansible Galaxy is just Ansible roles extracted into their own Git repos. Which, I think, is a better solution to sharing and reusing tasks than playbooks. It's really a simple but powerful idea, I hope it catches on, because it can really make Ansible usage more "social".

vivab0rg··on Apple retires Snow Leopard from support, leaves 20% Macs vulnerable to attacks
It was already high-time for upgrading my second-hand Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz Mac mini from Snow Leopard to Linux. The hardware is still running strong, so there's no reason to hold it back in OSX-land...
vivab0rg··on Install Ruby 2.1, Rails and Passenger on Ubuntu
This. I'm so grateful to Brightbox for having relieved me from the rvm/rbenv madness. Same painless packages on both development and production. Priceless.

vivab0rg··on A Memory Comparison of Light Linux Desktops
I had to use my daughter's modest ASUS AMD C-60 All-in-One (2 Gb RAM) until I could find a replacement for my laptop. Using Ubuntu's Unity with a LAMP and/or Rails stack sometimes brought it to it's knees. Switched to i3 and it was like having a new PC. No kidding.
vivab0rg··on Poll: HN Linux users, what desktop environmemt do you use?
i3: instant productivity. Failed as an Awesomewm user, but now rocking i3 with dual-monitors; a developers' dream. The only thing remaining from my Ubuntu Unity install is gnome-settings-daemon.
vivab0rg··on How and why I run my own DNS servers
+1 for Linode's DNS service. The best part is that you can access it via API too.

I'm thankful that the stagnation of TextMate led me to VIM, on both my Mac and all my Linux boxes. Thank you TM, it's been a great ride!
