vitorgrs··on Apple will soon support encrypted RCS messaging with Android users
Well... they also need to expand to more than just a few countries. Here in Brazil there's no iPhone RCS support at all.
vitorgrs··on The Authoritarian Regime Survival Guide
It's true. Here is the tweet from January 25, 2017

vitorgrs··on Apple's Software Quality Crisis
As far I remember, Microsoft design team used Sketch, which is... mac only.

Now they are using Figma, but as far I know, yeah, they all use macs lol

vitorgrs··on Musk-led group makes $97B bid for control of OpenAI
Depends. It's way worse now. But I think the main difference was X Premium or whatever they call now.

Basically, if you buy the verified badge, you get promoted on the algo timeline, comments, everything. And people also getting money by views...

This affects in two ways, first, not a lot of people want to give Money to elon, and the elon fans want to pay.

Second, this also makes a lot of people posting everywhere posting insane things just to get views and money.

Oh, there's also the bots that just reposts other people tweets now on the comments.

Why comments? It's how you get more views (money).

vitorgrs··on Gemini 2.0 is now available to everyone
Imagine when they launch o4...
vitorgrs··on Notes on Argentina
Yes, I'm aware of that. Doesn't change the fact that inflation is still high.

But the real issue is, the "oficial" dollar rate is controlled by Central Bank, and it won't be for long. When, as he promised, he let the peso float totally free, we'll really know even if the inflation can continue at 30% yearly.

Let alone, together with this, the growth of this year, that will likely pressure the inflation. They managed to reduce the inflation to 2.7% monthly, while the country was in a 3% GDP recession.

vitorgrs··on Notes on Argentina
Inflation in Argentina is still not under control. If the current number continues, they will have 30%~ yearly inflation. Argentina already saw this number before numerous time, including under Macri government.
vitorgrs··on Stargate Project: SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, MGX to build data centers
This is really not a big thing nowadays in Brazil because if "quotas" in public university.

This WAS a thing without the quotas, though.

vitorgrs··on TikTok says it is restoring service for U.S. users
Because seems insane to think that only because U.S says that Bytedance need to be divest or be banned, that any company will prefer to divest... And if the company doesn't do it, it's because of "hidden reasons"

We are talking about a single country.

vitorgrs··on TikTok says it is restoring service for U.S. users
What would happen if Brazil says they would ban X if Elon Musk didn't divest from it?
vitorgrs··on TikTok goes dark in the US
I guess tiktok is similar to Meta. It's basically impossible to create Instagram, and I guess Facebook accounts using VPN.
vitorgrs··on TikTok goes dark in the US
- You can pause a video. Not the best UX, but you need to HOLD your finger, just like you do for Stories

- You can seek in a video too. Again, awful UX, the line is super small, but you can. Depends how large the video is, I believe.

vitorgrs··on TikTok goes dark in the US
I do say they should have even relaunched IGTV again lol.

They were faster to clone Twitter with Threads.

vitorgrs··on TikTok preparing for U.S. shut-off on Sunday
Also, Tiktok don't even require you to be a user to use, exactly because it's kinda irrelevant for them. They will build the algo based on which videos you liked, for how many seconds, replays, etc etc.
vitorgrs··on TikTok preparing for U.S. shut-off on Sunday
Because Youtube shorts is awful, at least me, as a user.

Most of the content there, it's, well, "shorts", cuts from full videos of podcasts, etc. It lacks real users. It's basically the current youtube creators doing content for Youtube Shorts.

Let alone how the algo it's worse, and you can't download videos :)

vitorgrs··on Brazil says Meta hate speech policy changes do not fit with local law
In brazil, saying homophobic, transphobic, or racist things are illegal (and you can get arrested).

The thing is, for now, Marco Civil law, kinda let the so called "providers" not liable for users content posts, but that's likely to change on a Supreme Court decision that is happening about the Art 19 of Marco Civil. It's similar to U.S Section 230.

That said, if the platforms rules ALLOW homophobic speech literally, as they did, I'm pretty sure that would be illegal even with current legislation, because this wouldn't be a "bad moderation, would be a "no moderation", it was a choice of the company to allow that speech.

vitorgrs··on What is RedNote, the Chinese social media app that US TikTokers are flocking to?
It's a similar app (not 100% the same), with different names, rules and all.

A douyin user can't view tiktok videos, and neither tiktok users can view douyin videos.

vitorgrs··on TikTok users flock to Chinese app RedNote before US ban
It actually has translation (not sure if it's new)
vitorgrs··on China Discusses Sale of TikTok US to Musk as One Possible Option
I'm not from the U.S, so I'm genuinely asking, is there a law that states which countries it can't send data to?

If so, that means that every other foreign app is also illegal?

vitorgrs··on China Discusses Sale of TikTok US to Musk as One Possible Option
I'm not even a U.S user, and I heard about rednote on... Threads! From Meta. Kinda ironic.
vitorgrs··on Ilya Sutskever NeurIPS talk [video]
Not sure if this was a good example. Getty already license their images to Nvidia.

And they already have a generative image service... I believe it's power by Nvidia model.

vitorgrs··on Bluesky is on the verge of overtaking Threads in all the ways that matter
Huh, there is a following feed...
vitorgrs··on Maybe Bluesky has "won"
Nop. You need to download Threads app and create an account (using your Instagram).

Of course Instagram helps, because they keep showing Threads posts on Instagram, notifications, etc, so people download and create an account, but is not automatic.

vitorgrs··on ChatGPT Search
This is not a sponsored result. If I search about my username that I use on my Mastodon account, it show a result like that...

Basically, this means the answer is based on a main webpage.

It shows the cute Mastodon logo and all :D

vitorgrs··on BYD quarterly sales beat Tesla for first time
BYD is also building a factory in Brazil. It's almost ready (the deadline was later this year).

The factory stays on the same place of an old Ford factory. Ford left...

Fun fact: The street is called Avenue Henry Ford.

vitorgrs··on Six transplant patients in Brazil contract HIV from infected organs
About the "fatty" one... This is more how richer/powerful people have more resources to sue. The case would be a clearly win for everyone who sue it.

Brazil's penal code criminalize any "Injury" and "defemation"

> Art. 139 - To defame someone, attributing to them a fact that is offensive to their reputation:

> Penalty - detention from three months to one year, and a fine.

> Art. 140 - To insult someone, offending their dignity or decency:

> Penalty - detention from one to six months, or a fine.

vitorgrs··on Six transplant patients in Brazil contract HIV from infected organs
Brazil is way more decentralized in that way, especially health care, so health care quality will greatly change depending on your city even.

That said, organ transplants in Brazil are managed by the Federal Government (lists, etc), but the clinics and hospitals will usually be state or city made...

Brazil is pretty good at organ transplants, surprisingly.

vitorgrs··on X reinstated in Brazil after complying with court demands
Not really going on the point if what the Justice did is legal or not, but they won't impeach, because the Justices are the one who judge the politicians, and the majority of BR politicians, including right-wings, are corrupt.
vitorgrs··on OpenAI completes deal that values company at $157B
Yes, it is? Usually, products with free offering + subscriptions get classified as "freemium".
vitorgrs··on X reinstated in Brazil after complying with court demands
Congress could impeach him until 2022 - and didn't. From 2016 to 2022, Brazil was governed by right-wing governments.

Oh, who nominated this Justice, was a right-wing president as well.
