vietthan··on Ask HN: Are the 2020s the decade of peak homogenisation?
> Trying to tell a script for adults that employs smart dialogue, unexpected plot twists, or quirky characters is a total nonstarter.

As an aside, you should check out "Everything Everywhere All At Once".

vietthan··on I Am a Mad Analogue Scientist: Experiments with 35 Mm Films and Chemicals
We had a discussion from 3 months ago on how to develop with coffee [1]. I'll try to find it but I remember a film professor had a site where he also experimented with different types of non-toxic developing processes.

People in NYC who want to try this out should go to Mono No Aware [2], or just follow their instagram as they partner with other small, independent film developers around the city to host non-toxic film developing events.

Side note: these events are called "swimming parties" because of how much water is used.

likely not, the dotcom bubble was a big deal but it wasn't catastrophic like 2008 was and that's because of the greater coupling with financial institutions.
vietthan··on Will Bitfinex get 3.6B $ worth of Bitcoin from the government?
that's theft lol.

vietthan··on Global economic inequality: what matters most is where you are
0.03 * 7,900,000,000 = 237,000,000 . Btw, that's not a rate, just a hard count by the world Economic Forum.

That's a lot of people. There's so many variables when it comes to migration that an individual has to face, a percentage that high is actually quite significant. Rising quality of life also means immigration pressure isn't as high.

vietthan··on What caused all the supply chain bottlenecks?
it's weird but the military got it. Soldiers fight for their brothers or ideology, not for the brass.

Hi odentech, I applied last month but never got a reply. I assume I got rejected but it would be nice to have an email at least for record keeping.
