victorbjorklund··on Why Common Lisp is now the best programming language
Yea it is silly because everyone knows the best language for LLM:s is Elixir
victorbjorklund··on Why should I have to pay more for buses if I don't use a smartphone?
A discount for cash is the same as an extra fee on cards.

https://europa.eu/youreurope/business/finance-and-tax/making...

(Yes, I know UK isn’t in EU anymore but pretty sure their rule is legacy from EU)

victorbjorklund··on StreetComplete on iOS is now in public beta
Where I come from bread is normally not sold sliced. That is the exception.
victorbjorklund··on Platform-Independent SIMD in Go
Why is that the case? I don’t know low level programming so why is Go limited in interop with C?
victorbjorklund··on Topcoat is pushing the boundary of server applications with Rust
Sounds a lot like Liveview in Phoenix.
victorbjorklund··on Nokia Design Archive (2025)
Why? Duo feels pretty nice. Wouldn’t want the first generation (but it is never a good idea to have the first generation of anything)
victorbjorklund··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
Do you think it is cheap to decommission a large water power dam?
victorbjorklund··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
Because being a cash cow does not mean the cash will be reinvested by the owner. The owner might just milk the cow and use the money for other things.
victorbjorklund··on Claude discovers a novel enzyme system with CRISPR-like repeats
Semantics. Cancer is uncontrolled growth of cells. Treating it is killing/removing the cancer cells. Problem of course is you are never sure if you got all of them. If you got all of them you are “cured”. If you didn’t you are not cured in case the remaining cells manage to grow and spread again. We don’t talk about “cure” because of course it is impossible to verify if 100% is gone or not.
victorbjorklund··on The darker side of being a doctor
But those countries also pay less in a lot of other fields as well. Developers make less in those countries than they make in the US.
victorbjorklund··on The darker side of being a doctor
We don't need firemen. Just don't start fires.
victorbjorklund··on MiMo v2.6
And now they struggle to even defeat Iran. American troops had to retreat from American bases because USA isn’t able to defend those bases anymore.
victorbjorklund··on MiMo v2.6
Russia is more than twice the size of China. Hasn’t helped them to stay protected from drones.
victorbjorklund··on Verda (Finland) raises $189M in Series B
They ain’t Americans.
victorbjorklund··on ZuckOff is a free app that sees Meta glasses before they see you
Pretty sure Disney can still go after real targets even if they don’t go after every children’s at home party that showed a Disney movie.
victorbjorklund··on Ask HN: Is it impossible to disable Siri on macOS 27?
Not a car person but pretty sure they are a KIA and a BWM isn’t identical cars.
victorbjorklund··on Python Workers are now generally available
Elixir next ;) with clustering across workers (kind of kidding because elixir probably does not make sense for CF workers)
victorbjorklund··on Ask HN: Is it impossible to disable Siri on macOS 27?
Silly argument. It’s more like buying a BWM and being happy with everything expect a stupid decision like placement of the handbrake. Of course you can complain about it.
victorbjorklund··on Samsung is expected to more than double output of its HBM4 and HBM4E DRAM
They probably have insurance which means it doesn’t matter if it is all in one car or not. And even if they didn’t Samsung is big enough where a loss of a couple million dollars of components isn’t gonna bankrupt them.
victorbjorklund··on ZuckOff is a free app that sees Meta glasses before they see you
Im guessing the intention wasn’t that Disney would actually sue them in court but just getting it blocked automatically in YouTube, etc
victorbjorklund··on Learning another language may be one of the best ways to keep your brain healthy
All studies point that there is no easier to learn a language in your 30s than in your teens. Probably easier since you have better mental tools for study.

Of course time constraints can be worse (or better)

victorbjorklund··on Qwen Image 2.1
I mean I’m sure it’s the reverse for an artist. They would be less impressed with the image and more impressed with the code quality
victorbjorklund··on Microsoft exec called AI scraping 'the largest theft of labor in human history'
Napster was a company. Pretty sure that company didn’t tell you that.
victorbjorklund··on Astra for Law
Very little of corporate law is in court. The mass of things is “does this contract look good?” And “what do we need to change in our business when regulation X comes into force?”
victorbjorklund··on Canada welcomes EU proposal to become 'associate member'
Schengen and EU isn’t the same.
victorbjorklund··on Why I'm still bearish on LLMs after Navier-Stokes
> Why do I even scroll through this website.

Because other HN bring in their own experience telling us what is real and what is BS. Maybe next time it will be someone else with experience in something else that will call out BS and you will see it. I didn’t really think LLM:s are any near good in chess but I don’t play chess so don’t know what 1600 means. So you helped me by calling BS.

victorbjorklund··on US confirms for first time it has deployed space weapons
Laws change morals and ethics over time. They affect each other. Laws change what people think is moral (just look at how many people think it is moral to sell alcohol but immoral to sell cannabis. That of course is changing now as laws are changing).
victorbjorklund··on DaVinci Resolve 21.1
My points is it does not matter that the autopilot is superior to humans we still don’t replace pilots fully.
victorbjorklund··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
We are. If I as a developer writes software that does a DDOS at another company I can be held responsible.
victorbjorklund··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
You can write code that isn’t deterministic using random. And a lot of traditional code contains machine learning etc.
