vhcr··on People hooked on vapes try a new way to quit: cigarettes
The unhealthy part of smoking is the smoke, not the nicotine.
vhcr··on You can defeat the Dream Devourer from Chrono Trigger using an int overflow
Or using the saturating methods.
vhcr··on Anecdotally, programmers dislike "reduce"
The problem with:

    ret = ""
    for s in strings:
        ret += s
is that it re-allocates O(n) times, even if ret is referenced only once.
vhcr··on Anecdotally, programmers dislike "reduce"
It was never possible to sum() strings.

vhcr··on Performance of WebAssembly Runtimes in 2026
You have probably run WebAssembly without noticing it, I would call that a success.
vhcr··on Performance of WebAssembly Runtimes in 2026
Obviously it is, I've been writing a scientific library that runs in-browser and WebAssembly has been a blessing, it's easily 10x faster than the backend Python code it replaced, and 2-5x faster than I could achieved with JavaScript.

vhcr··on What Apple and Google are doing to push notifications
Instagram is the worst offender, I only want to receive message notifications, but I got notifications about inane random stuff I've tried to disable but it won't work. I ended up having to disable notifications altogether.
vhcr··on What Apple and Google are doing to push notifications
They technically allow you to, but make it really annoying to. Uber for example:

Account > Settings > Accessibility > Communication Settings

vhcr··on Auto Polo
There's also e-wheel polo
vhcr··on IPv6 traffic crosses the 50% mark
My theory is that they rate limit that URL aggressively due to AI scrapers. At this point it's faster to just clone the repo and do your searching locally.
vhcr··on A Japanese glossary of chopsticks faux pas (2022)
It's just awkward, I've held the knife with my dominant hand all my life.
vhcr··on Drones that recharge directly on transmission lines
The idea would be to use autonomous drones, so they wouldn't need to communicate, the problem would be that the GPS signal is jammed.
vhcr··on FracturedJson
I don't know, but you can always use <() process substitution to create a temp file.
vhcr··on Our new SAM audio model transforms audio editing

vhcr··on Azure hit by 15 Tbps DDoS attack using 500k IP addresses
BitTorrent v2 uses SHA-256, but in any case SHA-1 is still second-preimage resistant. And the BitTorrent piece hashes are included in the .torrent file, so you would need to find a double collision.
