vgprice··on Why I Was Fired by Google
He is wearing a shirt that says "goolag" from Google's logo. I love it. One of the better corporate slave names.

Edit: This is more memeish if anything. Google is obviously not comparable to a gulag, its just the closest negative pun.

vgprice··on I Fell Victim to a $1,500 Used Camera Lens Scam on Amazon
I don't even buy anything that is not sold via Prime. I assume anything non-prime is of the lowest possible quality or a scam. For some reason I feel comfortable with prime thinking that the items have had some sort of quality approval. (at least getting my item as described and expected.)
vgprice··on Bitcoin Cash Soars to $700, Coinbase Customers Threaten to Sue
But seriously, people threaten to sue the exchanges everytime they go down from insane amounts of traffic during a dip or spike.
vgprice··on TumbleSeed Postmortem: what went wrong
Decent read. I bought this game on the switch as soon it was release, and stopped playing probably 60 minutes into it because the difficulty really did my it less fun. I'll definitely play again once the patch comes out.

Overall the game has an amazing and original design, and I hope the patch improves sales.

vgprice··on Ask HN: Passive income ideas for solo developers?
Would you be able to share one of your pages? I'm curious how much content you have on a page vs just keyword stuffing and bloat.
vgprice··on Ask HN: How much time per week do you spend on side projects?
Between 6-9 hours per week. I'm able to work about 3 hours at night, after an 8 hour work day. Usually 2-3 nights per week.
vgprice··on US drops 'largest non-nuclear bomb' in Afghanistan
Seems it was an isolated mountain tunnel system only inhabited by ISIS. No real objections to me from that.
vgprice··on LOT – A subscription-based service which distributes a basic set of clothing
Damn this is edgy.
vgprice··on Google Analytics Autotrack
Has anyone used this or anything like this? Any notes on the extra js affecting page performance?
vgprice··on The Problem with AMP
As a small but growing site, I've been meaning to get on the AMP train and essentially steal some SEO before my competitor sites get in on it. Having a 50k page and dynamic site that lives in the database proves to be a challenge to create AMP optimized pages.

On the topic of AMP being a problem for web standards, I agree. I also can't afford to miss opportunities to get ahead either.

vgprice··on Open offices are bad for us
The office looks really good!

I enjoy working in an open office atm, it's nice having everyone so close. It is also a necessity for me to have a "no distractions" environment while coding. I'll throw on headphones and turn my desk so I have no visual or noise distractions.
