vesrah··on Building a Linux GPU Driver for the M4 Mac Mini in One Month
If you read the page it says 2026-06-04.
vesrah··on Getting 50 GB/S Back from the Apple Neural Engine
Somehow some sites are able to get around the video autoplay, I especially notice it on news sites.
vesrah··on Anthropic Sees over $30T in Potential Revenue
Over what period of time?
vesrah··on SQL patterns I use to catch transaction fraud
I had this happen once - I flew to a city about 8 hours of driving time away to buy a motorcycle and landed late in the evening. My card was declined when I got gas a little after midnight and I had no cash or other card with me so I called the 24 hour support line. I had a quick conversation with a support agent explaining that I was traveling and the card needed to be reactivated right away. Within five minutes the card was working and I was back to working my way down a long chain of mistakes.
vesrah··on Claude Opus 4.7
On the most current version (v2.1.110) of claude:

vesrah··on The OpenAI graveyard: All the deals and products that haven't happened
Search for anything mechanically car related and the results are terrible or wrong.
vesrah··on Don't post generated/AI-edited comments. HN is for conversation between humans
This is going to sound nuts, but I've noticed comments lately with multiple misspellings that seem intentional - it's almost like they're trying to signal that they're human, rather than LLM written. I've started to think it makes them even more likely to be LLM written than not.
vesrah··on Most of the US economy is in a recession
I found this video pretty interesting, it talks about why Iran is going after its neighbors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIS2eB-rGv0
vesrah··on MacBook Neo
Single core is close to M4, even.
vesrah··on Halt and Catch Fire: TV’s best drama you’ve probably never heard of (2021)
This is one of those shows I've had in the rolling background rewatch queue for years, I love it and I try to recommend it to as many people as possible. Flawed, yes, but still special.
vesrah··on Resizing windows on macOS Tahoe – the saga continues
Holding option while hovering gives you more placement / sizing options too. If you click and drag a top bar to the right or left it'll snap to the right or left half of the screen. Dragging it to the top or double clicking will snap it to full size. Dragging to corners will snap to quarter.
vesrah··on IBM CEO says there is 'no way' spending on AI data centers will pay off
The GPUs going into data centers aren't the kind that can just be reused by putting them into a consumer PC and playing some video games, most don't even have video output ports and put out FPS similar to cheap integrated GPUs.
vesrah··on Translating a Fortran F-16 Simulator to Unity3D
I agree, this was a great read.
vesrah··on Waymo granted permit to begin testing in New York City
New speedbumps were installed in a school zone near my housing complex recently, we're a heavy Waymo area and I watched one of them launch itself over one without slowing down.
vesrah··on Intel announces Arc B-series "Battlemage" discrete graphics with Linux support
They're going in alphabetical order: A - Alchemist B - Battlemage C - Celestial (Future gen) D - Druid (Future gen)
vesrah··on How good are American roads?
Yeah, the 93 between Kingman and Nevada is absolutely terrible. Last time I was through there (9 months ago) they were doing a small bit of paving but it wasn't in one of the rougher areas.
vesrah··on New iMac with M4
The unfortunate part is that these aren't for sale yet and we don't know how they actually compare to the existing LG 5k or Apple Studio display. It is nice to see more options coming to market.
vesrah··on X and Starlink face $1M in daily fines for alleged ban evasion in Brazil
I saw that, but I was curious once X decides to pull the money from the accounts (assuming they can, which I guess is a big assumption at this point).
vesrah··on X and Starlink face $1M in daily fines for alleged ban evasion in Brazil
How do they plan on collecting on that if the money is moved out of Brazilian accounts?
vesrah··on Amazon Cloud Traffic Is Suffocating Fedora's Mirrors
A long time ago I knew a guy that uploaded a Counter-Strike patch to his ISP personal hosting and ended up on the official mirror list. Ended up taking down the ISP iirc.
vesrah··on Google significantly reduces recaptcha free tier, introduces new pricing models
Is there an official source for this yet?
vesrah··on Could EU force hardware manufacturers to make working drivers for Linux?
What do you mean? This is what Universal Clipboard does.
vesrah··on Lunik: The CIA’s plot to steal a Soviet satellite (2021)
I thought this happened because the claw was pretty heavily damaged during deployment, only a small bit of it was actually able to grip.
vesrah··on Runescape gold more valuable than Venezuelan currency (2022)
While not directly related to your question, back in the day (like 2002-2003 or something) Jagex added fatigue in attempt to combat botting. The solution was an addition to the botting client that encoded the captcha image and dumped it into an IRC channel. There was a second client called Sleepwalker, iirc, that read the encoded captcha images from IRC, a user would type the captcha text, and the client would put the decoded text back into the IRC channel for the bot client to pick up and use. There was basically a credit system so you had to spend some time typing others captchas so yours would be decoded by others.
vesrah··on Play Counter Strike 1.6, with full multiplayer, in the browser
Ah, yes, the APC was the best way to die in cs_siege
vesrah··on New Mac Mini
It was available on the Intel Mac Minis, nice to see it making a comeback.
vesrah··on Can self-replicating species flourish in the interior of a star? (2020) [pdf]
or Flux by David Baxter, maybe :)
vesrah··on iOS 16 Available September 12th

vesrah··on Learning Car Speed Using Inertial Sensors
The speedometer may be driven off the transmission, wheel speed sensors, or something else. It doesn't take into account slip.
vesrah··on A case study of Toyota unintended acceleration and software safety (2014) [pdf]
Which is fine, as long as there is some kind of sane defeat for originally street cars that might see the track.
