Interesting, we will look into that for sure

Its not a term that we have coined - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biometric_passport

Yes (we keep a CA list). We are familiar with ReadID, but as far as I know they can only provide chip reading. Our solution on the other hand includes MRZ reading + chip reading + face verification + liveness verification

I think it goes without saying that pricing is negotiable with high volumes. This is the starting price for self-service with 0 commitment

It is of course intended for use cases where your real identity is needed, e.g. bank account opening, self-checkin for hotels and airlines

You hit the nail on the head - this type of problems is exactly what we try to solve. Someone like N26 would ofc be a dream customer. If there are any N26 employees here, hit us up ;)

Allow users to sign up (or similar) by tapping their ID/Passport. Integrate by using our apps, or iOS/Android SDK if you have an app on your own, or even C++ for embedded solutions

Onboard users remotely, or verify a user's real identity, by letting them tap their passport to their phone. Like tapping a card to pay

A device can be tampered with, that's why a backend verification is always needed. There may be use-cases where such security is not needed, but I think that's a separate discussion.

The developer exchanges the token for the data. In the current implementation the token contains the user data (encrypted).

This is not really the point. This is to be used where its necessary to know who the user is, for example when opening a bank account or checking in with an airline

There is now an updated version available on Google Play. I've tried to address these issues.

Thx for the info. I will look into this issue. Some other Android users have also reported NFC problems, this could very well be the culpit. Probably I need to force NFC into the foreground

Valid point. It is audited by Google/Apple, and beyond that you can use the app offline

Very strange.. what device do you have? did you have the other app installed/running in the background?

Network access is only for reporting errors. I believe you can just deny it, or simply use the app offline. The real use-case for the underlying technology is remote onboarding and remote identity verification. There is more info on that here: https://business.passportreader.app

I'm looking for users/testers/feedback'ers for my passport reader app.

The app can read and verify passports via NFC by communicating with the secure chip embedded inside.

It's very simple to use and works in two steps:

Use the camera to read the passport's data page visually

Hold the passport against the device to read the secure chip

The app does not store or send any personal information. The passport is only processed locally by the device itself.
