Came here to say this. Here's the quote for anyone else:

> Facebook’s user base has started to shrink after revelations by whistleblowers and leaks that showed how harmful social media could be to teen users, who are flocking to less toxic competitors like TikTok anyway.

Yeah it's unnecessarily bloated and over-the-top. It also pulls a lot of media from Reddit and Twitter.

I wasn't really concerned about this when I was building it though. It's experimental, not meant to be taken too seriously. I just made it this way because I thought it was cool

I'll see if I can fix some of the things you've mentioned though. I really appreciate the feedback, thanks

thanks! what do you not like about it? the animations?
verse··on Show HN: My New Personal Website
Thanks for the feedback. I didn't consider ultrawide monitors so I don't have one. I guess I'll have to get one at some point if I want to build websites for everyone. This is just a personal, experimental thing though. I don't mind if it's not for everyone

verse··on Ask HN: Life Changing Books?
I haven't really read any other books about habits. I've read a few different self-improvement ones though

I read it a while ago but I remember James Clear being a really great author in that he really explains in detail why something works and gives a lot of anecdotes.

It's also a really systematic approach to solving the problem of habits. His focus on systems really changed the way I think about managing my attention and my time.

IMO it's probably the best self-help book I've read so far but tbf I haven't read a whole lot of them.

I started reading "Metaphors We Live By" after reading your comment because I thought it had a cool-sounding title. It's so interesting! I'll have to take a look at the others in your list too

Do you have any examples of places someone could go to find more "social, cultural content"?

I don't think my info diet is very balanced. I'd love to be introduced to other places where people talk about different things

verse··on Show HN: Darkread – Read any online article in dark mode
Thanks! Some URLs can take a while, like longer than usual

I'm not sure if it's because the serverless function needs to wake up. But after the initial load it will load instantly for new visitors because the page is cached

I'm not too concerned about the initial load time for now because I mainly built it for my own use, but if a lot of people use it, I'll do what I can to improve, of course
