versale··on Incremental Perturbation: How to Know Whether You've Got a Plot or Not (1999) [pdf]
Thanks! I enjoyed it. Especially when closer to the end I saw Karl Marx mentioned all of a sudden.

"Marxist doctrine is omnipotent because it is true" (c) indeed.

versale··on Shamelessness as a Strategy (2019)
> 7. In the end, the shameless individual is the most free. Shame is an ugly emotion, because social norms are often ugly and limiting. The sensitivity to shame is a strong character flaw that must be overcome. In the end, if you are just a host for ideas as mentioned, why not pick the path of self-affirmation.

I guess this idea isn't particularly new and has been thoroughly researched by many. For some reason Nietzsche comes to my mind. And Dostoyevsky. E.g. from "Crime and Punishment":

"I wanted to find out then and quickly whether I was a louse like everybody else or a man. Whether I can step over barriers or not, whether I dare stoop to pick up or not, whether I am a trembling creature or whether I have the right."

versale··on How the U.S. Used Disinformation and the 'Jakarta Method' to Change the World
I presume this comment was a demonstration of the Jakarta method.
versale··on It's 2030. I own nothing, have no privacy, and life has never been better (2016)
Guess what. In Tallinn, Estonia public transport is free for city residents.
versale··on When a cleaner finds 5 euros at a Finnish office
Yes, my Finnish is practically non-existent. That might explain though :)
versale··on When a cleaner finds 5 euros at a Finnish office
Actually I was offered to give a tip at "O'Leary's" in the IsoOmena mall (Espoo) when paying the bill with my Visa Electron. It felt awkward and I've been avoiding the place since then.
versale··on A guide to freelancing in Finland
Opened one. Unfortunately I'm not very knowledgeable about cooperatives, just pondering the idea.
versale··on A guide to freelancing in Finland
Awesome! I wish there were a similar guide on how to establish a cooperative of freelancers in Finland.
versale··on Ask HN: Looking for an Alternative to Jira
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned bugzilla so far.

versale··on Ask HN: What weekend projects have you created?
A Github App providing CI for OpenEmbedded/Yocto projects: https://github.com/apps/yottaci, https://yottaci.idempotent.info

Initially I tried to use TravisCI, but it proved to be very inconvenient for the case of OpenEmbedded-based projects because of its time limits. So, I've created my own on top of MS Azure Functions. Currently it's used to do test builds against pull request to https://github.com/bmwcarit/meta-ros. But it can be used by anyone who's maintaining Yocto meta layers.

versale··on Intel to cut IoT jobs
Thanks! The article is useful indeed.

It seems like people tend to say Yocto is a bad idea, but that's just their gut feelings (and mine as well) with no substance in it except yocto's complexity.

versale··on Intel to cut IoT jobs
As an example BMW is working on one http://events.linuxfoundation.org/sites/events/files/slides/...
versale··on Intel to cut IoT jobs
Why buildroot is better? I need some substance to present to get rid of Yocto, but I fail to verbalize my gut feelings.
versale··on Intel to cut IoT jobs
I'd love to know more on why Yocto is a bad idea and what could be an alternative. no sarcasm.
versale··on Venera: The Soviet Exploration of Venus
As born in the USSR I can confirm that the USSR was a much better place to live in than modern Russia from almost any point of view: the best education system, better and affordable healthcare, practically no crime (if to compare with modern Russia), books and movies of much better quality than the flood of post-modern shit we have now, zero unemployment rate etc...
versale··on What is really happening in Ukraine
"Journalists are asked to watch closely the airports for possible Russian police coming to Ukraine and changing into Ukrainian police."

Oh, c'mon... Why are these speculations on HN?

versale··on Revolution in Kiev
Ok. So they are rather brainwashed than stupid. In other words they strive for such irrational things like glory rather than better life conditions. Is the actual situation any better than it used to be in soviet times regarding unemployment, affordable healthcare, education?
versale··on Revolution in Kiev
If you understand the Ukrainian Russians could you please clarify why they support the dictator? Are they not intelligent enough?
versale··on Burn the Fucking System to the Ground
I don't know what are you talking about (obviously not about the USSR), but I'd love to return to the Soviet Union if that was possible.
