vedaprodarte··on AlphaGo beats Lee Sedol again in match 2 of 5
A question: Should we take it as "a computer beating a human" or "developers beating a Go player"? I had this discussion with my friends and we have opposite opinions.

vedaprodarte··on $17 smartwatch sends something to random Chinese IP address
The back-door owner owns different IP addresses and the data are randomly sent to his addresses. This can also explain "random"~~
vedaprodarte··on $17 smartwatch sends something to random Chinese IP address
Random? I think it means the back-door owner owns several IP addresses and the data are just "randomly" sent to those IP.
vedaprodarte··on HTC sold 15,000 $800 Vive virtual reality headsets in 10 minutes
I think the price is acceptable for a developing product. There is a high cost in R&D.
vedaprodarte··on Google Unveils Neural Network to Determine the Location of Almost Any Image
In 2008, when not all of us are using smartphones, we always remind the smartphone users to protect their privacy. We told them not to upload their photos. But now, who cares? Everyone should know where I am!
vedaprodarte··on Microsoft, Google, Facebook Back Apple in Blocked Phone Case
Thanks, you have reminded me some huge IT companies that can also be related with this case! Amazon and the other IT infrastructure companies. Why are they missing or remain silent? Does it implies anything?
vedaprodarte··on Caterpillar's new smartphone with built-in thermal imaging
I like your comment. But before you can load the buffering icon, you have run out of mobile data.

I think most users do not own a 4K monitor at home or in their companies. I am not sure if 4K recording/ decoding is useful in this period.

vedaprodarte··on Caterpillar's new smartphone with built-in thermal imaging
I think so too. The design looks cool! I hope more consumer phones can provide this kind of design!
vedaprodarte··on Caterpillar's new smartphone with built-in thermal imaging
3GB RAM and Snapdragon Octa-core processor! Finally Caterpillar improves the specification of its smartphone. Its processing power is closer to ordinary consumer phones! In the past, I wondered why Caterpillar used weaker processor and less RAM than consumer phones. I believe people working in industrial area also need a powerful phone for their work. Am I right?

PS: I think 720p resolution on a 4.7" monitor is good enough. Acceptable for media consumption already.

vedaprodarte··on A visit with Apple’s chief chipmaker
“Steve came to the conclusion that the only way for Apple to really differentiate and deliver something truly unique and truly great, you have to own your own silicon,” Srouji says. “You have to control and own it.”

This words are very encouraging for entrepreneurs. No matter you like Apple or not, this philosophy made Apple succeed.

You can find Jack Ma's speech on Youtube easily. I love this sharing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5BKaDCda_0
vedaprodarte··on Global Sea Level Rise Map
People who doubt the doubt the accuracy of this map should check their brain. It is only a simulation based on some assumptions, not facts! If you do not satisfy with it, go and find 60M+ of water and pour it in your country.
vedaprodarte··on 1984: The Year Women Left Coding – Why women don't hold 50% of tech jobs
During World War II, a "computer" was a job title for someone who programmed the first general-purpose electronic computer, commissioned by the Ballistics Research Laboratory of the U.S. Army. It is interesting. I did not know that was a job title.

Besides, the stereotype is serious. A lot of females are not willing to study programming or computer science just because the imaged built by the media. In some engineering school, the ratio of Male to Female is 9:1!

vedaprodarte··on Mark Zuckerberg's Free Basics argument doesn't address conflicts of interest
"If Zuckerberg really wants to sell Free Basics, he needs to stop trying to convince people that it’s some self-sacrificing public service and admit what it actually is: a company offering a service that’s (supposedly) beneficial for both users and the company in question."

This is a good argument. This is not a charity act but a business decision. Although it brings something good to the Indian, Indian also helps Facebook to expand its business.
