I am still very attached to it though. For no good reason other than "it's mine", I think.
Isn't it a good thing software can't be closed? We have to use someone's tool though, and ego is inevitable, so idk? 100s of separate "open source" versions and people use what they think is the best?
Is it just about accountability? and having an author/human attached to the product to direct it? Choosing the person you have the most faith in?

Obviously you don't need to pay for Photoshop anymore. Does that mean your product is the replacement? No. Just an example.
The fact that you or anyone can get to 95-99% very quickly. The rest can be added over time at a very high pace and some "actual effort".
Unless Photoshop can add some sort of proprietary features then why use them? (they have been doing this with AI features mostly, but it should still all be copyable)
Maybe I am misremembering it.
That example alone feels enough.
I think the flat amount of direct and indirect death, as well as considering the amount of people who's quality of life has diminished, but not enough to kill them.
Other energy industries have these problems too, so I have no idea how they actually compare.
Could you link a repo that you feel represents this kinda mentality?
Do you only use it for quick prototyping of ideas and then move over to a different engine if you like the idea and want to expand?
I imagine the answer could come down to the scope of the game.
