usui··on After 25 years, Wikipedia has proved that news doesn't need to look like news
Wow, I would expect there would at least be a single mention of "born Dagny Benedict" somewhere at the beginning of the background section as is typical in other pages. If this is intentional, to omit this entirely seems like it unnecessarily politicizes the issue rather than documenting the history of a person.

I guess I'll ask since you strongly disagree and ignoring the fact this is very reductionist: In your opinion, what is the most meritocratic part of America?
usui··on Retreating from EVs could be hazardous for Western carmakers
It's good you also mentioned "(and Japanese)" regarding the propaganda machine. I don't think it will crash any time soon, but considering how much the economy is driven by the automotive industry, it's scary to see how much the incumbent companies are doing all they can to stifle electric vehicle advances. They aren't just ignoring them, they're doing all they can to spread FUD. To think there was a good start with hybrids too. There's also the ongoing hydrogen fuel attempt which starts to look like a sunk cost fallacy. If nothing changes, the decline is going to be a gradual irreversible ugly one layered on top of the demographic problem.
usui··on Feast Your Eyes on Japan's Fake Food
The Americn economy leans heavily on lack of price transparency and opaqueness. You're not allowed to know what you're buying until it delivers, at which point you can either accept it or complain loudly. Adding on a million junk fees and not selling things for prices as advertised is also really important. Food samples would be a huge 180 from all this, culturally speaking.
usui··on US TikTok investors in limbo as deal set to be delayed again
You wrote "All tiktok code is written by ByteDance engineers in china." While historically that might have been true in the old codebase, it isn't anymore. There is a significant TikTok office presence in South Bay, with many job listings open.

usui··on US TikTok investors in limbo as deal set to be delayed again
This isn't true. You should ask friends who work at TikTok before you write comments like this.
usui··on GitHub: Git operation failures
It's working again now.
usui··on Report: Tim Cook could step down as Apple CEO 'as soon as next year'
Maybe watch this lecture by a medical professional https://youtu.be/81xnvgOlHaY before repeating a commonly-believed myth.
usui··on Report: Tim Cook could step down as Apple CEO 'as soon as next year'
Valve is privately-owned with its BDFL owning over half of it. It has never gone through a leadership transition. It could relatively quickly go entirely bad after Gabe Newell is gone.
usui··on Report: Tim Cook could step down as Apple CEO 'as soon as next year'
How serious is this comment? As a thought experiment, this intrigues me. Imagine Steve Wozniak suddenly pops in as CEO. What might happen to the company in the following years?
usui··on AI World Clocks
I've been trying for the longest time and across models to generate pictures or cartoons of people with six fingers and now they won't do it. They always say they accomplished it, but the result always has 5 fingers. I hate being gaslit.
usui··on Boring is what we wanted
They should go back to the Windows Vista theme, that was the best one. Liquid Glass proved it.
usui··on Windows 10 Deadline Boosts Mac Sales
Three other comments are dunking on the OP writing "Windows 10 came out more than 20 years ago". It's probably a typo for "10 years ago" and OP is comparing it by saying Apple does 7-8 years.
usui··on Windows 11 Cumulative Update 2025-10 breaks localhost applications
I'm more interested in how this update causes the issue. What is the mechanism?
usui··on Leaving serverless led to performance improvement and a simplified architecture
> people will naturally shy away from such black boxes.

I don't this isn't true. In fact, it seems that in the industry, many developers don't proceed with caution and go straight into usage, only to find the problems later down the road. This is a result of intense marketing on the part of cloud providers.

usui··on “No Tax on Tips” Includes Digital Creators, Too
Yes this is so cringe, but it makes me kind of laugh. Of all the things the Western world historically imposed on Asia, it makes me laugh this is what made me feel is most cringeworthy as of recent.

Please keep your tip customs out of our culture. Next time just say thank you several times to show you appreciate them.

usui··on I bought the cheapest EV, a used Nissan Leaf
How can you write "I bought the cheapest EV" in the blog title, and have a section called "Why buy Leaf?" followed by a one-liner zinger aphorism "Price." without writing... the price you bought your used Nissan Leaf for? Someone might want to reference how much it cost back in 2025 a few years down the road.

usui··on Vibe coding as a VC
Yes because you can't vibe code social connections or capital.
usui··on Tiny, removable "mini SSD" could eventually be a big deal for gaming handhelds
Maybe reconcile in your mind the first line with the follow-up explanation to see whether it's bait or not and if it should be taken seriously.
usui··on Tiny, removable "mini SSD" could eventually be a big deal for gaming handhelds
I could care less about your explanation!

> When I moved to the US in my teens, I was surprised at the sheer disregard of English grammar rules in common vernacular here, to the point that some folks (though not my English teachers) think their incorrect use is correct.

You noted a common feature of incorrect Americanisms, which is that many of its speakers proudly and ignorantly proclaim their usage is correct. Disregarding descriptive linguistics, all it takes is one second of logic to realize why an incorrect saying doesn't make sense at all, but even that is asking for too much without getting into an argument sometimes.

usui··on High-Fidelity Simultaneous Speech-to-Speech Translation
I wonder why it's so popular to use Japanese words for random software projects. Bonus points if the project's application of the loanword is off-target from the word's usual meaning/usage, or if it's completely unrelated to the project.
usui··on They tried Made in the USA – it was too expensive for their customers
Based off the cited article, it was a typo and it's supposed to be "July 2016", not "July 2015".
usui··on America's Hot Garbage Problem
This is a strawman. The OP didn't mention trusting private institutions over public institutions, just that you can't ever trust American public institutions to do the right thing for you before being dragged kicking and screaming. What the poster says is true. Living in the US is coming to terms with "every person for themselves" is reality, and that it "does not square with the material wealth of the US". You can trust public institutions to some extent more than private, but interacting with them is still all about fending for yourself. Being familiar with the American government and living in another country that treats its citizens much better (at least for daily operations and processes) opens your eyes to how bad it is. It's a horror how much money the US has while failing to invest the majority of profits back into raising standards for everyone. Dozens of countries do better with much less.
usui··on Falsehoods programmers believe about aviation
Honestly I am surprised by some of the points. But after reading all of it, now I am wondering as an outsider, what the hell is a "flight" if there's basically no good abstraction for this mess? What does it mean when a new flight is created, or what does the existence of any single flight mean?
