unlisted7347··on Apple accused of using privacy to excuse ignoring child abuse material on iCloud
Ah, and you'll trust your 9 year old to not talk to strangers online. Many such cases.

Internet is a wild west, without parental control where your 9 yo can go your kid is a click away from something that may disturb them for life. And it's your responsibility to protect them before at least they hit puberty. Don't fuckin trust your 9 yo to not go places on the internet, that's insane. That's just taking off the responsibility off your shoulders.

Why would kids be playing on the street? What the hell.

You're implying a 9 year old is mature to be online. Or that you're never too young for certain things. As if children know what they're doing.

Also, seems like you don't know a difference between sheltered life and raising your children responsibly.

Ah, you're right. Kid got in contact with predators under parents' supervision.

But seriously, give me your opinion, why this is apple's fault and not parents'? I'm really curious.

Giving full, unattended access to the internet to a 9 year old? Absolutely nothing. Parents should get a noble prize equivalent for solving "spend more time with your kid" problem.
unlisted7347··on Show HN: A ninja's Handbook: A book on privacy, security, and anonymity online
Feels like people don't care about privacy that much. Last time I told my exgf about CCTV cameras in public places and how they shouldn't be connected to a network but rather have internal storage to fit a reasonable length of recordings. Since, live CCTVs never prevent any criminal activity and they possess great threat of surveillance by state or bad actors who may get access to them.

So, she called me paranoid.

unlisted7347··on Linux for UX Designers: What I learn after a year of doing design work on Linux
Basically, if not GNU, Linux would have stayed a hobbyist project or maybe never even happened.
unlisted7347··on The rise of 'ento-veganism': how eating crickets could help save the world
No, nor I want to. I know their meat actually tastes like other crustaceans. But I don't want to pretend it's just like crabmeat while ignoring crunchy chitin and organs. I'm fine with lab grown meat as long as it matches (or exceeds) nutrients of real meat. P.s. and doesn't have foul texture
unlisted7347··on Linux for UX Designers: What I learn after a year of doing design work on Linux
More people should be aware of GNU part. I hate to see GNU having substantially less financial support than Linux.
unlisted7347··on Indigo allows women to avoid booking seats next to men on flights
Jesus... And everyone just slept? There's no way no one woke up. Someone definitely did but just pretended to be asleep to "not get into trouble". People are sick.
unlisted7347··on Indigo allows women to avoid booking seats next to men on flights
This is great! I always get flustered when a girl sits next to me. I hope this really takes off.

Interestingly, negative prompts for stable diffusion (like "deformed hands") has similar effect. How LLM decides what's hallucinations? Mayhaps, it double checks itself? But probably it became self-aware.
