unlinker··on Ask HN: Will everyone but Docker make money off of Docker?
Support isn't free but anybody can also sell support.
unlinker··on Ask HN: Will everyone but Docker make money off of Docker?
Welcome to OSS, where the only viable financial model is to sell a product so bad people will have to pay you for support or to run it for them. (Example: Automattic with WordPress)
unlinker··on Facebook Censors User for Mentioning Censorship
Liking pages on Facebook is easier than adding RSS feeds to an RSS client.
unlinker··on Facebook Censors User for Mentioning Censorship
>Maybe it is me, but I am having really difficult time understanding why people take Facebook so seriously and add so much value to it.

Yeah, it's you. Spend more time thinking of it and you'll realise there's a big chunk of the population that gets their news from Facebook. Then you'll realise how this is sort of a big deal, in its own way.

unlinker··on Facebook Censors User for Mentioning Censorship
Well, you can see how it worked with Twitter, which had the same breakdown with right wing people.
unlinker··on Our best practices are killing mobile web performance
Take the hint then ;P
unlinker··on “Eat, sleep, code, repeat” is such bullshit
No problem. You just buy a suit then. And then a huge telly. And then a new pair of shoes. Believe me, you'll never run out of shiny stuff to buy.
unlinker··on “Eat, sleep, code, repeat” is such bullshit
You can drive a BMW and wear a Rolex on your way to work and feel better about yourself.
unlinker··on The Fading Dream to Liberate Africa’s Last Colony
Local industry and culture? What are you even talking about?

Colonialism is probably one of the best things to happen to a lot of territories, like for example most of Africa.

unlinker··on Moving Away from Python 2
That's a good point despite the downvotes. If you don't need any of the Python 3 goodies, by upgrading you will make your code run even slower. Hard to justify.
unlinker··on Moving Away from Python 2
Implying there won't be a community fork with security fixes.
unlinker··on Detained and interrogated for 10 hours in North Korea
Pure Gonzo journalism
unlinker··on China Fakes 488M Social Media Posts a Year: Study
Common wisdom says whoever is interested in reading this kind of stuff, will end up reading it.
unlinker··on LinkedIn password leak
If they can hack into your mail they can reset your password anyway.

(I'm not being technically correct here, but I'm being practical, and my argument here applies to 99.9999% of all cases)

unlinker··on LinkedIn password leak
By you, right? Or is it common practice to store outgoing mails?
unlinker··on LinkedIn password leak
The fact that your password is mailed in plain text to you when you register does not prove the password is not hashed when it's stored.

In a "lost password" mail, of course, that's another thing.

unlinker··on Chrome removes Backspace to go back
And fuck those who don't have [ and ] in keys of their own.
unlinker··on Rm does not permanently delete files
When you decided to write this in JavaScript you should have thought if you should instead of if you could. ;P
unlinker··on Chrome removes Backspace to go back
>everyone has a touchpad or touchscreen

No?

unlinker··on Google I/O 2016 Live Keynote
Because you and your friends don't need to own an iPhone to use it.
unlinker··on Google I/O 2016 Live Keynote
Android has been playing catch up on iPhone for years now, and they are starting to dangerously get close to them.
unlinker··on Why Apple Music is So Bad When the iPhone is so Good
Those splash screens are incredibly useless and annoying. I don't understand why somebody at Google gave the OK to them.
unlinker··on Why Apple Music is So Bad When the iPhone is so Good
On Windows you can block iTunes from the firewall...
unlinker··on Indefinite prison for suspect who won’t decrypt hard drives, US government says
I wish HN software would automatically start flagging comments that only contain a link to an xkcd strip.
unlinker··on Indefinite prison for suspect who won’t decrypt hard drives, US government says
Pedophilia is, sadly, far from being just a scare.
unlinker··on Twitter to Stop Counting Photos and Links in 140-Character Limit
I think hashtags still count towards the limit.
unlinker··on Campaign demands telecoms unlock the FM radio found in many smartphones
>Being politically incorrect is not civil.

That is a false premise, especially taking into account the parent comment didn't intend to use "third world country" in a malicious but in a factually correct way.

unlinker··on Campaign demands telecoms unlock the FM radio found in many smartphones
Hm, I meant as far as I know you can't bring your own phone to Verizon.
unlinker··on How I got through Docker's censorship
Censorship sounds like an inadequate term here.
unlinker··on Campaign demands telecoms unlock the FM radio found in many smartphones
This is Hacker News, where we strive to be factually correct, not politically correct.
