unified101··on We never use AI. For anything
> We are still in the gravy train part of the rug pull scam

Can we stop using this argument? Multiple Opus/Fable class open source models have shown the prices are sustainable with open models and self hosting.

People using these arguments are stopping better arguments from surfacing (loss of agency in workplace, junor ot senior training path, etc).

unified101··on Executable Is a SQLite Database
I don't think this goes far enough! Make the actually app store be the same file itself. so it's a living application and the file is constantly updated to how you use it. Copy it around, and you carry your data wiht you as well.

Let's go deeper. it's a webserver app + the server code + application code + db, so pocketbase++ where it's also the deployment target.

Then combine it with APE liek system, and the same file loads and stores things on every platform. evil laugh

Very cool hacking! My hats off to the author.

unified101··on The Work Number: credit score but for your employment history – by Equifax
In complex systems, no one sits down and does this. It's the revealed preferences and aggregate outcome when budgeting decisions, or hiring decisions are made. It's the equivalent of stereotypes in organization behavior.
unified101··on 'AI refuser' quit her dream job, and hopes others follow
What reckoning? This is not related to tech elites in the least, but simply a consequence of capitalism.

If your think smashing this generations looms will get you there, your mistaken. See what it took for communism to take hold, and plan for that

unified101··on Digging the grave of my skills: Hollywood creatives training AI to do their jobs
we have to move up the stack.
unified101··on DeepSeek-v4-flash-vision-exp
Im intrigued. Please do share these philosophies.
unified101··on Copyright does not protect AI-generated content in EU
Fuck Walt Disney
unified101··on Copyright does not protect AI-generated content in EU
If you engineer a clean room process, it does not. Already proven with an open source project that went from GPL to MIT via clean room (chardet).
unified101··on Copyright does not protect AI-generated content in EU
Humans dont need incentives either, we an abolish it.
unified101··on AI didn't erase the junior engineer's value, it increased it it
And even with that fable would be more capable than you. You just don't know how to harness it with the right context maybe.
unified101··on AI didn't erase the junior engineer's value, it increased it it
Yes it is. It'll write a better doc at any level for any task you may do. If you're not able to see that, you just don't know how to give the context right.
unified101··on AI didn't erase the junior engineer's value, it increased it it
Your boss isn't shortly going to say the same about you? Fable is better than you at engineering.
unified101··on Mathematics in the age of AI
I dunno about all that. For eg: I asked gemini who are the top 5 mathematicians by their contributions. It listed:

  Terence Tao
  Sir Andrew Wiles
  Grigori Perelman
  Peter Scholze
  Mikhail Gromov
Not sure you know more than the compiled knowledge of the world. I guess this conversation is becoming tedious..
unified101··on Technical leaders should have the largest AI exhaust
Not ELI5-able (by me atleast)! It's essentially MBA level, or generally organization building as a topic. Pickup any of the classic management books (Andy grove's high output management). They can probably give an idea of how you measure performance in lage organizations.
unified101··on Technical leaders should have the largest AI exhaust
follow through with that logic, understand how these people would coordinate, and you'll understand KPIs and why you can't just rely on "leaders inspire".
unified101··on Technical leaders should have the largest AI exhaust
Great for a small startup. Now do this for 1000 people team.
unified101··on Mathematics in the age of AI
You should definitely inform the wikipedia editors as well https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terence_Tao#Recognition .

(I don't know why you're so butthurt BTW - neigher of your ad-hominem comments actually outline your concern)

unified101··on Mathematics in the age of AI
wtf?! Tao is the only mathematician I can name, and widely considered the foremost living one.
unified101··on Ask HN: What are independent software contractors doing now?
Industry shift worth noting seems to be "If AI can do it, I don't need you". So all work available is - I can't get AI to do this. Help me do it.
unified101··on Air Theremin – a browser theremin you play by waving at your webcam
Nice experiment. Looks like the camera feed processing fps is sufficient for some creativity here.
unified101··on Show HN: MCP Memory – Fast Agent Memory Using Google's OKF and SQLite FTS5
dont worry abotu community. If your intent is to open source, just put it up on github (ask claude for help on how). simple as that, no reason not to do it.

unified101··on Bun 1.4 Rust rewrite is not looking good?
11k out of a million. I wish I had a project under 1% of "dead code".
unified101··on Ask HN: Does anyone else feel like nothing matters anymore?
That seems to be in your control to fix? I have been on this journey, but capitalism does not make it easy.
unified101··on Ask HN: Does anyone else feel like nothing matters anymore?
You're right on target. Indeed this is what it is.
unified101··on Ask HN: Does anyone else feel like nothing matters anymore?
A lot of the old world's benefit was the gatekeeping of (legitimate) knowledge and understanding. You had to spend a lot of time to grok it, and you could then exploit this for money.

LLMs completely kill this gatekeeping, for good or bad. And we're seeing the after effects. I don't know how to feel about this.

unified101··on Show HN: Vocal Slice – Cut audio by selecting text, fully on-device
IMO, this is vibeable with tauri, with some reverse engineering of this. Worth a shot to oneshot these, fable and opus would chew through this and give a FOSS project I think in under 20$ token cost.
unified101··on Is the industry ready for tokens-constrained work?
The elephant in the room is that the choice today is llm limits.

Tomorrow 2 engineers at 50% token time will change to 1 engineer with 100% token time for the same work.. the latter is too cost effective.

unified101··on Is the industry ready for tokens-constrained work?
The retail account is about 200 to 300 dollars of api equivalent. Large companies disallow retail.
unified101··on The AI Situation in Software Development
The proponents response is: Natural language (in any language) is much more accessible - almost 100 times more.
