undrcvr-lagggal··on Linus Torvalds did not commit this
Making the violation before it's formalized does not necessarily excuse it. Perhaps proper action is to remove the full post or specific parts.

He called github "braindamaged". Isn't that against the CoC?
undrcvr-lagggal··on Twitter Contest Winning as a Service
That would be inefficient because you'd need to allocate extra stack, process datastructures, context switching, etc.
undrcvr-lagggal··on Twitter Contest Winning as a Service
Indeed. It was probably hard to do because he's using Python which has problems due to its GIL. I myself would have went for Go, whoms CSP model matches this problem perfectly.
undrcvr-lagggal··on PDF Viewing
I was not aware of github's new STL viewing ability. Viewing models from your tools (such as from the source code that mentions them) is something TempleOS has been able to do for a long time now [1].

undrcvr-lagggal··on Ask HN: Why do we accept gore in movies/games but not nudity/sex in sitcoms?
I expected a response like this but didn't cover it in the question due to lack of space. However, even on Showtime and HBO there aren't uncensored depictions of sexual acts or full nudity. Yet there is plenty of violence intended to look realistic. I'd expect that if our society accepted uncensored sexuality in movies, there'd be sitcoms with it too, since that's already one of their main topics.
undrcvr-lagggal··on Factor – A practical stack language
I've always wanted to learn a Lisp, but I've found Scheme too academic, so I ended up learning other variants such as Common Lisp and Clojure. Could the same thing be said about Factor vs Forth?
undrcvr-lagggal··on Handling (unintentional) damage to culture
I wrote a browser plugin in Go (using gopherjs) that will humanize words like it, it's, and its when you press a hotkey while the cursor is on them. It will randomly pick between his/her or her/his. I'd put it on github if you like, but it would need a bit of cleaning up and work first.

> i.e. more than one way to skin a cat.

While this is true, I've always found applying mathematical analyses such as algebraic reasoning to computation admits a single, minimal, canonical solution in the end.

undrcvr-lagggal··on Testosterone is the drug of the future
> There are a ton of health issues such as balding, coronary artery disease, prostate cancer, obstructive sleep apnea that are related to testosterone.

So then, could it be true that getting your protein from soy based foods (e.g., tofu, tempeh, miso) presents an obstacle to being hit by these?

undrcvr-lagggal··on Handling (unintentional) damage to culture
> First, you could talk to this programmer asking whether he/she would wish to integrate more closely with the other programmers' culture (perhaps he/she would like to but there's something preventing it, like shyness or other).

Wouldn't that seem a little forced, though? If shyness is the issue, I'm not sure what one could say to address that.

Isolation seems like a good idea. However I'm worried the rest of team would have their ego broken, or even that our startup like culture would shift to a more corporate structure. Having one or small amount of people in charge of one big thing would kill the bus factor; That would have to be accounted for somehow.

undrcvr-lagggal··on Page load fail makes it difficult to cook cornbread in the woodstove
4realz. For me (firefox on slow connections), those kinds of blogs just take seconds to load, then blank out for a few seconds, then the content is displayed again in a different font. Typically I'd be reading half way through the introduction and then the page turns blank. I usually just close the page at that point since those types of blogs don't typically have any useful information.
undrcvr-lagggal··on Page load fail makes it difficult to cook cornbread in the woodstove
4realz are you serious? What is the actual downside of that? As a kid, it made perfect sense to me, and I often would right click the image and press reload or just refresh the whole page. Now whenever images don't load (which is often these days, since cloudfare blocks tor 90% of the time until you load the image in a separate window and fill out their captcha, and even without tor, wireless networks tend to be extremely unreliable), it's not easy to tell whether the page is broken, since it just collapses the spaces where the images would have been.

Further, if you directly view an image and it breaks half way, the browser will hide it and say it's corrupt (and have no "show anyway" button), unless the size wasn't provided, then the browser just thinks it's valid, despite that it could parse the JPEG file and find out that lines of pixels are missing. Calling either of these cases a feature seems very biased.

We aren't even talking about one of the worse problems, which is when a page fails to load, the browser doesn't try to reload it - you have to come back and press reload yourself. I've wasted literally hundreds of hours doing this.

undrcvr-lagggal··on Astral – Organize Your GitHub Stars with Ease
Very well designed. However what advantage does this have over browser bookmarks/tags?
undrcvr-lagggal··on Tell HN: Hacker News Profile Leak (Fixed)
Wow if HN can't even get this right, it's no wonder so many fortune 1000 and fortune 100 companies are compromised so often. Information wants to be free. Secure programming requires thorough discipline.
undrcvr-lagggal··on Plants talk to each other using an internet of fungus
This reminds me of Alan Kay's thesis of similarities between biological systems and object systems. Robustness is gained by dividing things into large amounts of small cells communicating in an unrestricted graph topology. This is basically how networks of REST speaking nodes work as well. All three of these systems share more similarities than one might immediately realise. The big idea is messaging.
