uncleshelby··on Wrong Map of Europe
Good catch. Thanks!
uncleshelby··on Wrong Map of Europe
Oh, cool catch! I had Smalahove as a link, so I must have noticed it was a food at some point, but I forgot to actually put the URL in. I didn't realize the connection to Voss, though.

Good call. I've update the post to reflect that.
uncleshelby··on Wrong Map of Europe
Good catch. I've updated the post.

EDIT re: your edit: Wow. You're noticing things faster than I can update the post!

uncleshelby··on Wrong Map of Europe
Interesting! I love how much I'm learning from this. Thanks for pointing that out, I updated the post to reflect that.

Oh, thank you for pointing that out! It's fixed now.
uncleshelby··on A Road to Common Lisp (2018)
Matthew Butterick wrote a book about Racket (a dialect of Lisp) which has a great appendix that tries to explain why Lisp is worth learning:

There are lots of evangelist explanations for why Lisp is The Best out there, but this is one of the better and more concrete ones.

uncleshelby··on Wikihouse: Open-Source Houses
The most expensive configuration I can find for that size (111 sq m) is 327,000 GBP on the cost estimator: https://www.wikihouse.cc/cost

Maybe you put in 1200 sq m instead of converting from sq ft?

uncleshelby··on Paying Netflix $0.53/H, etc.
This may just confirm that your local library doesn't have what you're looking for on Libby, but if you have a Goodreads to-read list, you may find https://projecttbr.com/ very helpful. I used to comb through my list of books to read manually and had a hard time finding anything I wanted to listen to, but this site made it a pretty easy process.

Not a lot on there right now. I have a lot of ideas for blog posts and started a series porting a tiny C++ renderer to Rust (to learn both 3D graphics and Rust), but it's been hard to find time to continue with school and work. I'm trying to put out a new post before my next semester starts or gets too busy, but we'll see...

I built it kinda from scratch using Hugo. I didn't use any templates and wrote custom all custom CSS. The only JavaScript is a 2.3 KB Umami tracking script that talks to my self-hosted instance.

uncleshelby··on More developers use Linux than Mac, according to 2022 StackOverflow survey
Interesting that the 2021 survey already has Linux ranked higher than MacOS. Makes this article's headline not nearly as interesting, IMO.
uncleshelby··on What to blog about
Who's to say that someone really does or doesn't have something "new" to say? New can be explaining something simpler way, as far as the writer understands it, and discouraging people from writing and getting experience through writing is pretty inconsiderate as I see it.
