typpilol··on Interview with Kent Overstreet (Bcachefs) [audio]
What's the end goal for bacachefs?
typpilol··on SPhotonix – 360TB into 5-inch glass disc with femtosecond laser
Sounds cool for long term data storage, but they need to get the read write speeds up.

4mbps write and 30mbps read is extremely slow. Even if they achieve their roadmap 500mbps is still slow compared to modern drives.

Better not keep any data you need access to within like 90 days on it or you're toast.

What market is this even aiming for? Bitcoiners?

Not working on edge on android either
typpilol··on State Department to deny visas to fact checkers and others, citing 'censorship'
Is fact checker an actual job?
typpilol··on Don't push AI down our throats
I learned today that you can install vscode via winget now lol
typpilol··on Show HN: Network Monitor – a GUI to spot anomalous connections on your Linux
I am in the process of building myself a cross platform GUI for network monitoring.

Simply because I need one for non-critical stuff and things like uptime robot are enterprise geared and too expensive for me to entertain.

I wish there was an uptime robot for like 25 cents a monitor a month.

typpilol··on Migrating the main Zig repository from GitHub to Codeberg
When a ocaml maintainer took the time to give you real feedback, all you responded with was:

"Thanks X Person"

You're the direct cause to open source burn out.

typpilol··on AWS is 10x slower than a dedicated server for the same price [video]
I hate these comparisons because it's not apples to apples.

The entire point of AWS is so you don't have to get a dedicated server.

It's infra as a service.

typpilol··on Claude Opus 4.5
Same here. Gemini just rips shit out and doesn't understand the flow well between event based components either
typpilol··on Claude Opus 4.5
I got this on the dominos pizza app recently. I clicked the bread sticks by mistake and clocked out, and a pop up came up and offered me the bread sticks for $1.99 as well.

So now whenever I get Dominos I click and back out of everything to get any free coupons

typpilol··on Show HN: Stun LLMs with thousands of invisible Unicode characters
Ya if you ask them to make it too, they just make math based ones lol
typpilol··on Arduino Terms of Service and Privacy Policy update: setting the record straight
If the only restriction on reverse engineering is their cloud SaaS, why was everyone up in arms?

Or is this Arduino trying to save face?

typpilol··on Meta Segment Anything Model 3
Check out the new grok 4.1 graphs. They're even worse
typpilol··on Building more with GPT-5.1-Codex-Max
Copilot has gotten a lot better lately at least on insiders. They are actually serving close to 200k context on insiders last I checked, which brings it more online with the first party apis
typpilol··on Building more with GPT-5.1-Codex-Max
Afaik, there's no difference besides how aggressive or not it is.

But it's the same concept. Taking tokens in context and removing irreverent ones by summarizing, etc

typpilol··on Gemini 3
Maybe he means not the best move but an equally almost strong move?

Because ya, that doesn't happen lol.

typpilol··on Show HN: Continuous Claude – run Claude Code in a loop
I was able to do this with vitest and a ton of lint rules.
typpilol··on Why I'm Learning Sumerian
Literally lol
typpilol··on GPT-5.1: A smarter, more conversational ChatGPT
Yup, I get the same ick factor when I hear about it.

I think you have to be a certain personality type to get hooked into the chat emotional connection shit

But at the end of the day, you're essentially just hyping yourself up, alone. It's quite sad as well.

typpilol··on GPT-5.1: A smarter, more conversational ChatGPT
Couldn't you learn way more without the fluff?

Would you really ask an AI how's it's doing?

typpilol··on GPT-5.1: A smarter, more conversational ChatGPT
Im the same I'm only 30 though.

Why would I want to invest emotionally into a literal program? It's bizarre, then you consider that the way you talk to it shapes the responses.

They are essentially talking to themselves and love themselves for it. I can't understand it and I use AI for coding almost daily in one way or another.

typpilol··on GPT-5.1: A smarter, more conversational ChatGPT
People are so naive if they think most people can solve their problem with a one hour session a week.
typpilol··on Terminal Latency on Windows (2024)
Just want to say built in glyphs makes terminal ANSI art awesome.

I forked a colorscripts project and added some true ANSI art after conversion and the built in glyphs look so much better than any other font.

It's great but is there any special rendering for the built in glyphs that's not possible with fonts? Just curious

typpilol··on Building a 2.5kWh battery from disposable vapes to power my workshop [video]
Nice. My bike shop will only sell batteries or bikes with UL because their insurance requires it.

Good luck!

typpilol··on AI documentation you can talk to, for every repo
I don't think so as it generates stuff even for projects without any documents
typpilol··on The Linux Kernel Looks to “Bite the Bullet” in Enabling Microsoft C Extensions
Wouldn't that only matter if the bug has no affect on little endian?

Otherwise you don't need the other endian to confirm it?

Or are you saying to test their software before it goes out to big endian devices, which doesn't answer the question as to why someone would want to use it on those end devices?

typpilol··on AI documentation you can talk to, for every repo
I find it's better than context7, but that's not saying much
typpilol··on Building a 2.5kWh battery from disposable vapes to power my workshop [video]
Isn't that why so much of it ends up in the third world where they break it down and get the valuable parts out under horrible conditions?

Just like old cruise boats

typpilol··on Building a 2.5kWh battery from disposable vapes to power my workshop [video]
It's literally an economic pressure.

Even if they were the same efficiency the older takes up way more space.

Why would you pay for 5x the data center space? Surely building they out isn't energy cheap either

typpilol··on Building a 2.5kWh battery from disposable vapes to power my workshop [video]
Are these rated? My local bike shop won't sell anything without that specific safety rating. I forgot the exact number.

I've seen that more and more common lately
